Peter Pan did not walk the earth. Jesus did. God has given miracles.

He did, too. I read it in a book. A lot of other people have read it. That makes it true. And Peter Pan taught people to fly, man. If that's not a miracle, I don't know what is.

Every country in the EU pays prices near the UK ones (maybe not quite as much). Nobody really moans (except a little if they go up even further), because that's what it always has cost. What does the EU know that America doesn't?

Not that it matters either way. The founding fathers, nice guys that I'm sure they were, are a little dead now. They could have meant for us to be a nation of Cargo Cultists for all the difference it makes. The government gets to make laws based on the piece of paper they wrote, not what they wanted. Even if the next guy were 25, you'd still have a 1-in-50 chance of getting someone that has a clue how to run Windows Update, and then you'd be stuck with him for 60 years.

I'd rather have someone who knew the ins and outs of what huge corporations are allowed to do than someone who knows FORTRAN, and that kind of stuff usually takes a few decades to learn and to demonstrate that knowledge.

Of course, the next guy will be picked based on who his golfing buddies are, but still, oldness isn't a problem for most issues. Provided they're in good health, of course.

Yes, copyright infringement isn't the same thing as physical theft, but, the end result is, for the seller of either, the same: They are deprived of the money that they are entitled to, for the goods they provide, under the terms they provide them as provided for under law.

If you can't be right in general, be right very, very specifically, eh? Since you've removed the argument from its context and this subject is boring as all hell, I'm not going to bother arguing. I'm sure somebody else farther down has made lots of good points for you to ignore.

Your straw man is largely uninteresting and not worth a response, although you're right, he does seem like a bastard. But I'll address this part:

They resent any attempt by anyone, regardless of stripe, to make money, unless the amounts charged fall within their definition of "fair" - despite the fact that such isn't theirs to define in the first place.

You both object to people wanting things to be fair and discount the opinion of everyone that doesn't meet your criteria of "good enough to define fair." You sound like a swell guy.

The odds aren't good that they'll sue you, and tons of people would gladly take that bet, but then there's people that buy lottery tickets every week because there's a chance they'll win. Those people are deterred, and the movie guys know that.
