Are we talking THE Quicksilver, the makers of the classic 3D Ant Attack ?
I shudder to think how far their 3D engine had improved in 15 years time.....wow Ant Attack was the Tomb Raider of its day (and on a SInclair/Timex ZX Spectrum).
All they need is Rare (Ultimate Play the Game) on board and i'll be in retro heaven
"Apple Computer and Apple Vacations. They both use the same identifier, there's a potential trademark violation. Except there isn't, because one is "Computer" and is associated with hardware and software, while the other is "Vacations" and is associated with the travel industry. Easy to tell them apart. This is how trademark disputes using common words are dealt with. "
Right idea except Apple did have a trademark dispute with Apple Records (The Beatles record label...you know that popular 60's group)which is a similar situation to the one you're describing
Now IANAL but Apple Computers and Apple Records are easy to tell apart but Jobs lost in the trademark dispute, so you're analogy whilst logical has a historical precedent against it.
Use a bit by bit copier such as Clone CD if you use Windows.....
Anything burning software that copies the cd bit by bit should be safe untill they build copy protection into the cd burners. (a la macrovision on VCR's and even thats useless if you get a signal booster)
Anyone having problems doing backups should visit game copy world
Hmm none of the songs from Manowar's 80's 'Battle Hyms' album are on the banned list and thats easy listening compared to some of the stuff out there....
Its strange that the all the 90's death / trash metal bands aren't on the list either.
I guess the censors can only ban what they understand and ironically death/trash metal is just too noisy for the radio censors to bother listening too.....
Well its not like they'd play it on the radio anayway.....its all steps and britney these days hows a teenager supposed to be rebellious anyway when their dad probably listens to Marilyn Manson, its a strange ole world.
Here in the UK a common term of service is that you can only use ADSL or Cable for 24 hours in a day.
Fine you say...
That works if there are ONLY 24 hours in a day...wait till we start colonising other planets and 'permanently on' means permanently on for 24 hours then waiting another few hundred hours before you can surf again.
Go ahead prove me wrong, but they really do restrict to only accessing the service for 24 hours in a day.
Surfing on Mars will really stink compared to broadband in the US
Not all Monopolies are obsolete... Waddingtons and Hasbro have been making board game and computer versions (like the Star Wars edition) of 'Monopoly' for years and I can't imagine the day when no one plays them anymore...
There was a great scene in the movie Wayne's World where they mocked this practice, shamefully promoting several products within their movie. But it works--I remember the products were Pepsi and Pizza Hut.
Whilst Waynes World was a great movie in itself, the idea of mocking product placement predates it.
Watch Return of The Killer Tomatoes and look for the Kung-Fu scene with all the advertising and tell me Mike Myers wasn't influenced by it...
Hmm I always thought 3D Monster Maze on the ZX80 was the orignal FPS....and that was in 1980 or 1981.
;)
It may have been in black & white but it was a 3D FPS for sure, I'm sure it must have inspired someone out there

Does that mean that SERIOUS Sam might be in breach of Yahoo Serious trademark.
I don't want to play as 'Slightly Serious Sam' or 'Mostly Harmless Sam'
Dammit I wanna be Serious Sam and I want some serious fragging now.....

Blame me for being English....
/.
Yes its a 'joke' I was being sarcastic....
Sure I know what IIS really stands for, and yes I'm stupid otherwise I would be coding not posting stupid messages on
Well Netcrafts servers seem to handle the slashdot efect pretty well.
Wonder how long they'd have stayed up if they used IIS.
P.S Is it one of those urban myths or does IIS really stand for Internet Infection System ?

Hmm reading the headline I thought I was reading a Katz article, but no I blinked and it definitely said Cmdr Taco....
/. changed the Author as a Joke ?
Hmmm could this article have been written by Katz and someone at
That would be ironic...
Remember just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean the're not out to get you...
It gets worse...

Hmm that VM sounds suspiciously like the new Amiga vapourware VM ...
;)
Coincidence - maybe Amiag is working for the NSA ?
It could explain how Amiga survives with no new product to sell
Whilst using Mason you have to wear an apron whilst standing on one leg, and slapping any other Mason's you see with a wet haddock.
By slapping a Mason with a wet haddock you are agreeing to the terms of the Mason EULA
but stealing tv is wrong. why should you not have to pay for the company to launch satellites, install systems, and organize programming?
If stealing TV is wrong explain why the last bastion of American values Homer Simpson thinks its ok
Which Game would you most like to see on your PDA, mobile, microwave, cuecat, iopener digital convergence appliance
. Half Life
. Unreal Tournament
. Quake I
. Quake II
. Quake III
. Quake IV
. Cowboy Neal
That should just about sort it....
p.s.
I really wish someone could get Ultima Online running on a PDA now that would be good for dull meetings.
Can you imagine a "Rudundant answer" ?
"Rudundant" indeed, I think Sir you require a spell checker...
Moderators, please moderate this as "Redundant"
Surely that counts as the 'world's oldest working computer'.
;)
Go on admit if you were living a few thousand years ago you'd look pretty geeky with an abacus
Even better the Abacus was patent free
Shame on you for using TOS as a swear word.
;)
Those poor old Atari owners will be cursing in their graves
Showing my age I guess
Hmmm I remember playing Leather Godess of Phobos... would Leisure Suit Larry ever have been made without Infocom's trashy classic ?
;)
LGOP was trashy...what other game had a scratch and sniff card that really lived up to its name.
Even the content of the adventure could be changed with its user defined smut level.
I still have an origninal Amiga version of LGOP with the scratch and sniff card, I wonder how much that will be worth in 30 years...
Incase it gets slashdoted the commercial is also available at adcritic.com
I think Amiga is spanish for girlfriend.
...and just like a jilted girlfriend this Amiga refuses to admit its finished, its over, its a deceased Amiga.
This Amiga is in fact the proverbial Monty Python parrot...
Its not dead its resting

What's next, an MS patent on breathing?
Breathing ?, give Microsoft some credit their next patent will be on 'innovation'
Someone should set up a peer-to-peer hyperlink sharing application so that people all over the world can share their collection of hyperlinks...
;)
You mean like Leechnet or Napster...
Apart from porn and mp3's what else would you want to share
