As an Windows AIM user, I was severely disappointed with GAIM when I tried it out. I was running the beta version of AIM (no flames please) and GAIM lacks *tons* of features. Even ones that have been around forever (font face/color changes without having to do the HTML tags each time, et. al.)
The explanation is that, in order to maximize page views, Slashdot puts up stories at assorted times. That story was meant to be displayed at noon, and somehow it got out earlier.
That's the explanation. As for reasonable, I'm not sure.
I thought AOL pulled the plug at 0.48, so what's with these new versions? Who is producing them? Are they official? Are more coming?
In the interest of protecting those involved, it can only be said that these versions are being produced by someone with access to the source code. No, of course they're not official in the gnullsoft sense, but let's just say that they're legitimate. I would certainly expect more versions, since we've already seen several materialize.
But only one person has access to the source code.. or has it been released?
Now you're starting to get the picture. No, the source still hasn't been released.
What's wrong with the D&D book? I'm taking Comp Sci II right now, and we're using the D&D book. I suppose I should know about the shortcomings of the book, but then again, I *am* jawad....
Yea RIGHT! I know, I know -- don't feed the trolls. But still! Apparently a lot of Slashdotters feel that Rapping is lame, etc. Listen to some rap music sometime. And marvel at their insane lyrical skills.
You never use your Windows-E to open up Windows Explorer? Or Windows-F to open up Find Files? I find the Windows button quite useful, actually. I don't really appreciate the right click button, though.
Help! I just got my i-opener today (haven't checked if it's the new model, if it is, then that sucks), and first thing I did was check Slashdot for the link to the linux-hacker page. Lo and behold, I found this story. I need a mirror! Someone! Anyone!
This guy put in a DVD drive in his Nissan 300ZX along with an 8.4" screen (and loads of other stuff: it functions as an MP3 stereo, a gaming machine, et. al.).

Laptop Exams?

At RPI, where all the freshmen are required to have laptops, most people get the standard IBM 600E. If you need, you can get financial aid to support getting the laptop.
If you check out their Affiliate page (doesn't Amazon (that link is to noamazon.com, by the way (I just love parentheses)) have a patent on that?) then you'd see that the did license Google's search technology.
Ha! You should have checked out if you got the first post before you submitted (with all the wrinkles in time, it should have been possible, right?), so you could have gotten 1st instead of 12th!
Oooh. How about having something like this on a remote controlled car? That would be sweet! Have a lil' wireless connection that sends the image to your laptop computer....*drool*
Check out the volume of AMD stocks being traded and that'll tell you the big deal -- It's not important to most of us, but to marketing folks, it's a big deal. AMD *had* to beat Intel to 1 Ghz to get all this attention from the mainstream media.
Haha, you too? I just checked out phreedom.net, and it was down, and the original author took it down, so I grabbed it off this AC as well.

Uh huh. Right Rob... *wink*.
Gnutella is decentralized, and much harder (if possible at all) to firewall.

Wouldn't deja.com be what you're looking for?

It's easier to just have to deal with making the suit, rather then the suit and AI to run it.
Well, he could put a giant "laser" on the moon, and call it the "alan parsons project".

You can't do anything without plans!
I decide. "I Dee cide". Read the capital letters individually.

He's my hero.
"What's the forking problem?!"
"Well... Pick it up!" (Yogi Berra reference)
"I use a fork to scoop Hot Grits down my pants (I'd use a spoon, but there is no spoon)"
I'm out. Anyone have more?
IMO, a better subject line for your comment would be "No Forking Problem". Just my 2 cents.
Yes, I run Win2000.
Use dialpad, see what your professor says!
