I thought that is why we have routers. My routers block all unused ports and use nat. i dont controll the web server so im not sure what goes on there. but i always believed that proper firewall and router configs can stop these kind of things before they start, please correct me if im wrong.

when people hear about things that involve computers they
automatically assume just about any damn thing is possible.
In my 10 years of working with computers i have never lost any critical
data due to a crash or a computer failure. there are too many ways to
prevent accidental data loss and to recover data from a completely
hosed hard drive. this data was probably not lost in a computer crash
it was deliberately destroyed. call me paranoid but i challenge anyone
on this board with more than 5 years field experience to site a single
case where data was lost due to a crash (not including incoming data
during downtime) and not recoverable. if you do post a case than
you shouldn't be in this business.

The problem is not that Linux needs an MS office the problem is that 90% of the people equate MS word with word processing. if a third format that is universal is used than it wouldn't matter what you use for your word processor. If apple can successfully license the aac compression algorithm that they stand to make allot of money. it would also become a more viable alternative to MS audio compression. with the proceeds from licensing aac, there may be a little bit of a drop in ipod sales but most people buy ipod's based on aesthetics and the design. but in the end apples greatest failing is a business model partially based on fear. by locking down the market on hardware they loose the revenue from software licensing. with proper marketing aac and quicktime compression can become a consumer device standard.

- Your senator wants to put viruses and destroy your
computer if you do something he doe sent approve of
- Your senator helped to put an innocent Russian

- Your senator wants to remove your rights to make
backup copies of movies and software that you already own
- Your senator cares more about the *aa than the people
