They performed all their actions in Sweden where their actions were not illegal
is simply incorrect?
As is said above they got convicted on accessory to commiting copyright infringement of 7 movies some music and a couple of games. This wasn't really thought of as something that could seriously happen before they got charged with it, and the sentence seems very perveted imho. If accessory to commit crime give you $3.5 million in fines, I would hate to be sentenced for the crime of actually downloading one movie.
I always thought they would get convicted, but I think the verdict was tad bit extreme. They do not have enough money to pay ~$3.5 million, but neither do most people who get convicted of "Copyright Crimes".
The max cost need to be in there, and having to pay $70000 just because you forgot to turn off your phone is not a good thing. This is important because people do not see this problem, and tend to laugh at "losers" affected by it. Pressure should be on the Telcos to have fair pricing, not on the customers.
So no it's not alarmist, it's trying to expose telcos for what they are, and hopefully change them.
They have hosted codesprints and Debconf 2009. So this is really just a continuation of a long time of moving towards Linux. But I do not like the part where he says "Our budget for this is zero euros", that will not go well.
1) You have no clear entitlement to another copy of CDs.
Over here you do have such an legal entitlement, and why would anyone restrict such a thing? Sharing among friends is not something you can restrict, it's impossible, any attempt to make such restrictions will only lead to very bad things. I share all software and music in my possession to everyone that ask for it, and I even offer it freely. It would be very bad manner not sharing, not only the producers but also to my friends.
It doesn't work like that, If you can consume 2000kWh per year you live a pretty decent life, and you will make a lot more than the median family income in Kenya. But If your family do earn ~40 USD per month you can probably pay ~3 USD per year that 50kWh would cost you, that is insanely cheap. Though I'm guessing the installation price is at least 600 USD..:-(
I have lived in similar circumstances so I do know what I'm talking about, and if you take the lowest tier 50kWh, with that you can keep you food stuffs cool for a year and get reading light.
hahahha! *cough* You could at least link to some nutters blog for a funny citation. There are lots of proof that women get less pay, I remember a scandal back in 97 where two Swedish scientist got published in Nature about discrimination in Academia. See: Wennerås, C. & Wold, A. Nepotism and sexism in peer-review. Nature 387, 341-343 (1997).
The problem is that it has to be something that I can let other people use, I had a hard time communicating with my friends who used FreeRunner before things got as stable as they are now.
Just a note: rsync --delete videos archive rsync --delete videos/ archive
The first one will copy videos as a "file" to archive, the second one will expand all files in videos/ and copy them to archive deleting everything else.:-(
The cool thing is that these kinds of public/private parks are encouraged in New York since the building of Seagram Building in the sixties, after that building the Zooning Resolution in New York was changed to offer: incentives for developers to install "privately owned public spaces".
And hell, even widely-adopted projects (Firefox, OpenOffice.org) have reeked of the elitist attitudes, with bug reports from users being marked as "wontfix" with comments as egotistical as (vaguely paraphrased - some of the defects have even been discussed slashdot) "it's a pain to fix,..
As you mention further down. when you report a bug to proprietary program you get a similar response, even though they promise the world first? At least with free software you can make small progress towards removing bugs, I've seen ~10-20 people actively working together to fix their common problem. Most of the time they fail, but at least they could try. It's wonderful to have that empowerment.
It's kind of sad that you so much bad things to say about Linux, things are different on Mac, Windows and Linux, they have different problems. You just have to deal with them.... Which is a crappy advice because I just can't handle Windows..:-)
Sounds very strange I've never had that happen to me and I've seen a lot of crashed Linux stuff. In general when thing like that happen it's you own fault, that's why I don't use Windows anymore I just brake it too much.
Just because it lacks your pet feature doesn't make it a toy, maybe you mean "a packaged product that doesn't do what I want". I have no idea how well Siri does, it will be fun when/if it works for other languages.
BTW the Siri way seems to be a sane way, it's so hard to handle a computer by voice only, computers are always to slow and verbose for voice communication.
You are rambling, but you do have some points, Windows needs to be cheaper, but they have tried correcting that with cheaper Office and Windows for families and students.
Linux is doing fine, not that many people care about saving time and worries by installing Linux though.
Indeed Ghandi would be a miltant pacfist in some interpretations of the word militant. It's great that you stand up for the protection of the English language. Perhaps fundamentalist or overly aggressive is a better word. But as GP says the debate is bores me too much to care.

There are lots of other possibilities e.g. the Sansa clip i a very good player and it supports Rockbox.

But hey GPL gives you a different perspective.
I think that was that he ment by tuning. Just the small matter of programming you know..

Ooopsie sorry that should be: 120 KES + 9KES/KWh*2000KWh, 200 bucks I wonder if you can make by with 50KWh per year.
A standard two room aparment here in Sweden would cost 120 KES + 2KES/KWh*2000KWh per year, that's 50 bucks!

./C makes that ok, but that's not the problem. The problem is that you loose on one level of quotation.
Yes but the will still support the usage of CarrierIQ.
The problem is that it has to be something that I can let other people use, I had a hard time communicating with my friends who used FreeRunner before things got as stable as they are now.
Yes but "of" and "if" are different options were as it usually doesn't matter if you have / or not in most commands.

I think you mean parity, And it's not a was of time finding good ECC memories, parity is vital.

How did he police make this clear, do you mean physically by pepper spraying people, or actually telling hem?
3 AM in New York

Then, I'm XORing the five sources together, which produces a stream with entropy good enough to satisfy my randomness needs.
I tell you all that you do not want to read about parents "needs". Disturbing!
