    Blah, I've followed a blogger who seemed to have a good grasp of how things works, and then he publishing something gushy about free energy I felt sad for him.. Now my standards for slashdot must be much lower, this doesn't surprise me I'm just disappointed. Ignore them. Please.

    The interesting thing is what do you name you cables? I always move them around so "router"/"vacumcleaner" won't do, so I name my cables things like "Chrysophylax" or "Tintaglia"

    I use toilet paper tubes for organizing small cables, it makes it very easy to find that cable to that old phone you just gave to that friend. The most important thing is to keep all the connectors on the same side of the roll, so you really get the right connector on both ends of the cable.

    Just press "z" to undo, ctrl-z can probably be troublesome to bind in browsers. I think the delay could be longer with a "Class A priority" mail option.

    If you haven't had responsibility for a kid you know nothing about it, it's like trying to get algorithms and data structures for a FS right by just going on experience with HTML. Parenting is very a completly different experience from having a childhood. I find it very hard to believe that you have any good advice to give about parenting nor on addiction.

    I'm glad google has a "safe search" option, sure there are very hard to solve problems that comes with using filters, but having an option to use a filter is never a bad idea, and might be a good business decision. Maybe we all can join a white list web of trust.

    Radio interference from cell phones is real.

    Back when phones had antennas I used to push the elevator button by placing the cell phone antenna beside it and make a call. It worked almost everytime.

    Since no one's got a clue about how many there are exactly I think stating a percentage like that is very far fetched. It would be interesting to know how the population has changed, and maybe then you could talk about percentages.

    If it technically can't do HTML: What's *wrong* with you, buying such a device?

    Most ereaders have a hard time handling HTML files, the ereders are made for books that only have the function "read next page". So HTML files where you need to click links and such is hard to read on ereaders. (IMHO that's even true for devices with touch screens)...

    WTF? Who stores passwords in a form that can feasibly be reversed?

    Most code use very bad password hashing, until recently lwn.net stored passwds in clear-text, now they use bcrypt. But even if a site uses password, they will mostly use a bad hash algo.

    Either the authors of that book figures that England has no culture to speak of, or they might be thinking of English as an international language. I mean I speak far more with peopl who have english as a second language than English or Americans.

    1000 milisieverts that's twenty times as much as the one-year limit for Radiation workers, meaning spending some time there would make it impossible to survive (8 Sv).

    How does that even make any sense? iOS is quite secure, including not being vulnerable to Flash exploits, and if Steve Jobs only wants people to use iOS as "toys", why does Apple sell five creative and business apps for it?

    Just because iPhone is a cool phone doesn't make it the best at everything.

    You can hack an iPhone by visiting a webpage, it also got hacked the 2nd day of pwn2own. iPhone is a lot like Windows when it comes to people trying to PWN it, so I would say it is probably one of the riskiest phones you can use.
