BS, this is a device that is made to life in a jeans pocket. Hell, even God Steve himself showed us that! So I guess Apple will work very to make sure this problem gets solved. They cannot afford to sell inferior iPod's, because the iPod is what makes them rich nowadays.
I've played all Myst games (well I just started Myst V), and I find Myst IV the best so far. The atmosphere was extremely immersing, and the way the story unfolded was very good. If you haven't tried it yet you're doing yourself short.
My post wasn't meant to be funny but I can see your point. A Zork theme park would also have its problems: people being squashed by the giant hand that sticks out of the subway train, or being seduced bij Dirk Benedict...
Every time I play a Myst game I walk around in silent amazement. The ages are just so darn beautiful. I'm not into eyecandy but Myst grips me every time I play it. The surroundings, the sounds, the horrible story of Atrus and his kin... Together they create e real life-like experience. I just started Myst V and damn is it beautiful. I think a Myst theme park would be fantastic!
That's why I was talking about simple things... Of course it takes time to find out all the advanced functions, but I had lots of trouble with simple formatting tasks like changing the line spacing or the standard font. It took me forever to find out how to save your settings in such a way that they were applied to each new document. Of course everyone should be able to use whatever suits him/her best; that's why I think standardizing document file formats is more imporant than making a 'perfect' office suit.
If it takes you more than five minutes to find out how to do something simple, it's not worth trying anymore. I can imagine he wiped it off after five minutes. OOo has come a long way but is not nearly as 'good' as MS Office, I'm ashamed to admit.
At work we have an ftp server, the purpose of which is to share files between people in various locations and from various organizations working on the same project. Out IT manager insists that everyone who wants to use this ftp-server first gives his/her IP-address to him, so he can open the server for that specific address. This server has never been hacked. Needless to say it's never been used either.
Linux on the desktop is as far away as it when I started using it four years ago
I'm very sorry to say that it is even worse than that. I started using Linux in 1996, and then it was 'ready for the desktop in five years' time'. Now it's 2005 and Linux is still 'ready for the desktop in 5 years' time'. I'm now saving money for an iMac G5... Don't get me wrong, Linux is a fantastic OS, but even with KDE and all the userfriendliness that has been built around it, it still doesn't Just Work, the way Windows and OSX do.
No, why should they? They are now in the phase where they have to cater the replacement market. The people that buy their products are already used to their quality and don't expect more. Besides, most people don't even know that there are more software manufacturers than MS. How do you think they get away with the new look and feel of Vista that they so obviously (to us) ripped from OSX? Because 90% of their customers never see a Mac end will marvel at the new eye-candy and the 'new and innovative' features this new OS has to offer.
Yeah that really sucks. But also the other way round: I find time and time again that I'm 37 but I don't feel that age. This is a problem sometimes when dealing with younger people.
I must say both interfaces have their pros and cons. Expose is very handy, and the transparent windows are too, but what I can not get used to is that in Aqua you have to really quit the applications by selecting [Application name] -> Quit from the bar on top of the screen, even if you closed all the windows that this application had open. I think that's just plain stupid and very non-intuitive. Furthermore I find the Windows Explorer way more useful and well-designed than Apple's Finder. And in both interfaces I'd love to have a 'lower window' function, as I have in fvwm on my Linux box.
I once saw a discussion on a German forum that went just like this, but just a little further. All of a sudden the guy that gave all the data complained about someone buying a lot of computers off his credit card. After that one of the moderators removed the data from the website. Since/. policy is never to remove data, I wonder if they would make an exception in this case;-)
Thanks, this was really helpful! Running with the thing is no option because of my health but I now realize this thing can help me with my total transfer from Linux to OSX that I am thinking about ever since I got my iBook last month. And I didn't realize I can put all my photos on it. The chick magnet function another poster suggested will also come in handy.
And did I mention it's soo cool? Jeremy Clarkson would say it's not only sub-zero, but it needs its own fridge. If you don't know what I'm talking about look here.
This nano iPod presents me with a big problem. Ever since the walkman came out in the 1980s I didn't see the point of listening to music in the train or the bus, where you get distracted all the time. I already have an mp3-player in my car, and an iBook that connects nicely to my stereo at home. So please/. crowd: give me a reason to buy this thing because it's soooo coool!!
I tried to find the PSP on Sony's Dutch website. That didn't even have a link or anything about it on the homepage. So I clicked Playstation. From there I could click on the PSP weblink, and had to wait forever for the website to load, just to be able to click my language of choice. And then I again had to wait forever for the website to load (I have a 1 Mb/s broadband connection).
When will those stupid marketing people understand that I want information, not a shitload of crappy graphics and forever load times? I only wanted to know what the resolution of the PSP is, because it looks to me this might be a perfect replacement for a Palm or even a real laptop. But I gave up when I was at 50% download, so I guess I'll never know...:-)
However, both these billion-dollar lasers will primarily be used for nuclear-weapons research, with only 15% of their time being available for other areas of physics.
My professor recently had his identity stolen. Apparently the thieves stole some of his mail from his mailbox, and opened a new bank account in his name by his bank. Then they applied for internet banking on his `real' bank account. When they had that, they could easily steal his money. I find it amazing that it is so easy to steal someones identity with this bank.

Did you put your pinky to your mouth, and did everyone laugh with you because they were afraid to be killed?

Who modded this Troll? (S)he certainly has no sense of humour whatsoever. ROFLOL!

And just when IE was officially the safest browser ever! What's happening?

Free as in speech? Dream on boy, MS will never let that happen :-)
Come on people, this is MS's attempt to get everyone back to IE, can't you see that? Of course this will only work in IE 7.
What happened to 'before this decade is out'?

Aiii, that hurts.

Strange, the priorities of politicians.
