  1. The people on European Parliament Committee Endorses End-To-End Encryption (tomshardware.com) · · Score: 5, Insightful

Isn't it amazing how the EU time and time again installs regulation that benefits the people who live there, even if that means going against companies best interests? And still many inhabitants of the EU think they don't benefit from it (although those numbers are going down thanks to Brexit).

  2. Re:No settlement possible on EU Poised To Fine Google More Than $1 Billion in Antitrust Case (marketwatch.com) · · Score: 1

What makes the EU different from American politics is that the EU is there for the people. So companies can not easily buy laws that make them get away with screwing their customers by bribing congresspeople like in the US. This means that if a company breaks EU law they are likely to be sued and fined, which is great for the European people because they get good products and service for fair prices.

You have to add the costs of all the people who get sick due to pollution, famines and wars because of global warming, America eventually having to import green technology because they have turned themselves into a country that's stuck in the 1950s when Trump's life was still fun for him and for rebuilding New Orleans and New York and Miami because they will be under water soon.

  8. You have obviously never seen coal.
Here in the Netherlands all electic trains (and that means >90 % of the trains we have riding here) run on green power, mostly wind. If we can manage that Tesla will have no problem disconnecting most of its chargers from the grid.

This. I was a researcher back in the day and even writing articles at home was not very effective because I often had to look up stuff or ask colleagues about things. I also found that many things at home were even more distracting than collegues and other stuff at work. So I was not fomd of working from home.
