You can always say no to a treatment, or even tell the hospital that you don't want a certain doctor to treat you.

No. As a doctor you only have to know that some medication doesn't work anymore so you have to use something different or hope the patient gets better by him/herself.

What does Math have to do with programming? And about the mandatoring evolution: you can't do that. Those people are grown-ups, and a school is not a totalitarian regime. Besides, I don't see why they can't be good doctors without knowledge of evolution. It's not like people evolve a great deal in their (the doctors') lifetimes.

Indeed. From Wikipedia: "A 2005 survey published in Encyclopædia Britannica found that the non-religious made up about 11.9% of the world's population, and atheists about 2.3%. This figure did not include those who follow atheistic religions, such as some Buddhists." Here's the link.

Everybody used to be so in arms about letting kids watch too much TV, it'll rot their brains out.

What always strikes me as odd is that those discussions are never about what the kids watch on the TV. I just came up with the following interesting experiment: take a pair of twins, and feed one porn from birth on and the other one horror- and other very violent movies. See how they develop in life.

There is also Nokia's MeeGo-based linux phone, N9 which is really slick and has all the features you need, too. But support for that might be worse in the future, as Nokia is mostly going to do WP7 phones now.

I had a Nokia N900 but I bought an iPhone after a year or so. Although the N900 is still on par with the best smartphones out there hardware-wise, for me it was very annoying that there was hardly any new software coming out for it anymore. And I have a hole in my hand when it comes to smartphones. I bought a new one every year for the past 4 years.
