they did manage to make the right bet and manufacture something that worked as advertised.
And that, believe it or not, took a whole lot of hard thinking and innovation. They really did make something unique. And do you really think a luxury car is so much more expensive to make than a cheaper car? Think again: in order to make cheap things in large quantities you have to invest an enormous amount of money into a manufacturing plant.
Better yet: using a microphone to listen if the user is whistling with the song, and then use the Internet to automatically sue the user for copyright infringement.
Is there no more substantial documentation than the links in the blurb about this? The links point to some blog posts and a few Wikipedia entries. Not very reliable if you ask me. I want a quote from MS themselves so I know what we are talking about here!
Maybe not monopoly, as the RIAA actually represents several companies, so it would be difficult to say there was insufficient competition and make it stick.
But you can only buy the latest digitally enhanced hot chick's sounds by one of the labels the RIAA represents. So that label has a monopoly on that music.
Why would the RIAA need a positive public opinion? Record companies have a monopoly on the music they sell. They are united in the RIAA. If you buy music, you pay the RIAA to be able to conduct these ridiculous lawsuits, wether you want it or not.
When the beep will the EU decide that it's had enough of this nonsense and just say NO? No wonder nobody votes in European elections. I thought after Bush we would not be the US's lapdog anymore but to my surprise and horror we still are not allowed to take more than 100 ml of fluid in our hand luggage, even in pan-european flights, and we have to put up with these ridiculous transparent plastic bags, and now this. Please please Brusseles, or Strassburg, give those Americans the finger and Just Say No!
On your home page I see you are a computer technician. I don't see anything about interest in climate change. Therefore I must comclude that you are too ignorant in this field to form well-based conclusions. So please don't bother us and listen to the experts.
BTW, I'm impressed that you won the NaNoWriMo 5 times in a row! That is something to be proud of. Where can I find some of your writings?
No but other software makers do, so I've heard. And we never ever have seen any of the 'I'm a Mac, I'm a PC' ads on TV, for instance. Come to think of it, the last ad for software I have seen on TV here in NL was the ad for OS/2 somewhere in the early 1990s, as far as I can remember.
I am reasonable computer-savvy but I also don't understand these messages most of the time. I then use the 'I have a Mac, I am invincible' attitude, which is dangerous of course. But I just want to view that website!
Very good point. I don't get the EU's decision either. But then again, MS should have been split into an OS and an applications company when the US had the chance to do that, IMO.
I guess the fact that FF adoption is so low here has to do with the fact that we almost never see ads for computers on TV, let alone software. I guess therefore many people aren't aware that there is more than the stuff that comes with your computer.
Good point, but I think he's a bit more eloquent and uses less immature language. I think this AC has a special hate-relationship with me. He used similar language to describe me in another thread too.
It's a language thing. I thought with 'printing' the people who posted here meant using a printer. But you all mean writing in capitals. Sorry for being Dutch and not understanding. I like writing in cursive; it helps me order my thoughts since you can't easily wipe the text, and it flows out of the pen slower than text from a keyboard, so you have time to think about the sentence while you are writing it.
So you can't explain something on a piece of paper on a terrace somewhere, but you have to lug a computer around with you all the time. Handy! But seriously, being able to write in a readable script is in my opinion one of the most basic skills someone needs in our society. There are so many situations where a pen and paper are handier than a computer.
A lot of people don't even know that their computer runs software, and that that is programmed by a company, and that that company is called Microsoft. They think that their computer is built so that it does what it does, and when it doesn't work anymore because of crapware or whatever their computer is 'broken.' I know, it's not a particularly positive view on people, but I've met enough people that think like that.
The kangaroo still hasn't come up with a better way to bring up it's kids. Having your embryo climb all the way up to your pouch is sooo last Megennium.

Is the copying issue that Vista had solved now?

We have that here in NL too. Downloading music is legal here; sharing is not.
I didn't know that, but isn't there a law that says that even when you buy music from non-RIAA labels you still pay them?
Yeah. Pimp tactics. And pimps are the lowest of the low scum.

Looks like a test of the Venetian DARPA to me. We can expect our Venetian Overlords to arrive soon!
That's only part of our problems, unfortunately.

If you are right, then why are they doing so well?
I'm too young for that.
O no! I thought I would never make the dreaded all too popular spelling error. It's its kids, not it's kids. Mea culpa.
