Washington Mutual recently redid their website and specifically locked out non-IE browsers. It can be circumvented with Opera's "Identify as..." feature, but it's really annoying to me. Right after the website "upgrade" they sent me a questionaire about it. I made it a point to tell them I do not use IE and would appreciate them supporting Opera. Not surprisingly, nothing has changed yet.
I too do computer repair/service as a side business and 28 is quite low. The other day I fixed a computer with (including tracking cookies, registry entries, the whole shebang) had over 2,500 items. Before I cleaned it up, the computer was unusable.
I built my own collection of Lego blocks when I was a kid and also added an older friend's collection to my own. When I outgrew them, I gave the whole mess to the neighbor kid, who added it to his collection and passed it on when he got older.
One of my favorite Lego memories was when the family VCR died and I tore it apart to see how it worked. I found some cool little motors and discovered they ran nicely on a 9V battery. Soon I was mounting them to various lego creations and I had powered inventions, baby!
Legos are a great toy, they allow a child's mind to explore and create. I really hope Lego doesn't go under, that would be a damn shame.
I too am leaving AT&T. When Nov 24th hits, I'm gone. I haven't decided who I'm going with yet, but AT&T's reception sucks in many areas I travel in frequently. As far as features and pricing goes, I'm pretty happy with my plan, but it frustrates me when I can't get a decent signal at my home.
It's a lot easier than that really. Just right click on your CD-ROM device in device manager, go to properites, and uncheck the "Auto Insert Notification" checkbox.
As an alternative, if you want to leave autorun on, but temporarily disable it, just hold down SHIFT while you're inserting the CD.
" In Germany on the autobahns speeds of 150mph are not unknown. It's because we're used to these speeds."
I completely agree. People usually scowl at me when I tell them I drive over 100mph on a regular basis. They assume it's very dangerous just because they wouldn't feel comfortable driving at that speed, however they're perfectly fine driving at 70mph. Why? Because they're used to it. They know what it takes to drive safely at that speed.
I am used to driving 100+mph because I've done it for a long time. I know what it takes to drive safely at those speeds, and I don't drive that fast if conditions (traffic, road, weather, etc) would make it unsafe.
While I'm all in favor of helping people out, I'm not benevolent to the point of having the FBI knock my door down for someone someone else did with my connection.
Something worth mentioning that Microphiles have a hard time grasping is that you don't have to reboot after every fscking change! Teach them the value of -HUP and being able to kill just a daemon without the need to reboot.
Incase you can't tell, that really frustrates me when they do that.:P
I want the HUGE (but small in capacity) hard drive!

Hmm... looks like Windows is trying to be like *nix. Whod'a thunk it.
I think we should start calling Ashley Olsen, "The Fat One" and drive her to an eating disorder too.

Let's see, pay for music and get F'ed... download for free and be fine (as long as you don't share).
I'm sorry, but I don't want to be monitored that closely.

A blank CD-R blank eh? I'm so confused.
Not dollars.

Yeah like, "Once you use our product we own both you and your children."

Can I sue slashdot for posting these "Sue a spammer" stories every week?
My gun has killed fewer people than Ted Kennedy's car.
All destinies are final. That's what it means. If you haven't gotten where you're going, you aren't there yet.
CmdrTaco for president!
It's turbo charged just like the site and eBay listing says. Kudos on doing your homework.
Yes, badly phased titles have been known to fall into temporal rifts and be lost in the inter-dimensional void.
*CRASH!* "Hey look! They nearly missed!"
