I suspect that the number of US applicants is smaller because: a much smaller percentage of US citizens want to work in Shanghai than Chinese nationals. Given that they lowered the qualifying score for Americans means they want Americans. Sorta says something positive about Americans in general.
Place the wind farms around the Beltway. There is plenty of hot wind coming from Washington.

Cashiers in banks and many businesses are under constant observation, has been that way for decades.
I am in the IT field, and I have been working with the assumption that whatever I am doing, 100% of it, it has been recorded. Although I am pretty sure (LOL, you never know!) that isn't happening. But I have always felt I should do nothing at work that I couldn't defend. I shouldn't be doing anything to be embarrassed over. I should be doing WORK anyway:)
Now I agree, outside of work, shouldn't be observed. Although I view myself as a professional and I do feel I shouldn't do anything to embarrass my company on social sites. Those sites are public. Especially if I advertise I work for a company on a social site, I should do anything that would cause harm to my company.
Don't get me wrong, if the company abuses this and questions every little mistake...it is time for me to find a new job.
the problem with many Americans right now, they think that whatever they want, no matter if it impacts any one else, is the American way. that is way socialism creeps in, why we have a zillion laws out there. Many people think they have the right to whatever they want. Entitlement is the destruction of a democracy and free market system.
companies have rights too. If a company or organization don't want to sell something, that is their right.
I am sure many people don't want to be forced into a particular occupation, but I feel it is the same thing as forcing a company to sell anything. As a worker in the job market, your product is your line of work, typically. So how would you feel if you where a programmer and you are told you have to work here 1 hour a week cleaning toilets (unrelated to your current employer and not by your current employer)? Otherwise, you are censoring!
let me know when you open a store someplace so I can demand you sell my porn...otherwise I'll complain you are censoring my porn.
It's Apple's product and Apple's store. The idea you can force a company to sell anything doesn't sound very cool to me. If you don't like that, you are free to choose a competing product or build one yourself.
The IP datagram is printed, on a small scroll of paper, in hexadecimal, with each octet separated by whitestuff and blackstuff.
The scroll of paper is wrapped around one leg of the avian carrier.
A band of duct tape is used to secure the datagram's edges. The bandwidth is limited to the leg length. The MTU is variable, and
paradoxically, generally increases with increased carrier age. A typical MTU is 256 milligrams. Some datagram padding may be needed.
Upon receipt, the duct tape is removed and the paper copy of the datagram is optically scanned into a electronically transmittable form."
show me a government that doesn't allow industry and special interests to influence it:)
I never went into the public health vs privation argument. I am just hinting that the FDA is not a good defense of what is good about government intervention. Doesn't matter if the influence is corporate, the end result is failure of a government organization.
And you hit the nail on the head: "Government, without the legal bribery we have now" just like highly socialist governments, by theory, don't equal dictatorships. However, history seems to show otherwise.
But the same greed you are referring to that corporate interests is due to the basic greed of mankind. This greed also causes corruption in a government or socialist setup. The question is, which has better checks and balances? In socialism, the government tends to have a monopoly, which is why, I believe, usually does a poor job in checks and balances in the end.
However, this is seriously getting OT. Sorry On to something new:)
Don't tell that to someone with Gastroparesis. The FDA being influenced by large drug companies (especially the manufacturer of Reglan, the approved drug in the US) won't approve the the drug that is used in EVERY other industrialized country to treat this condition, Domperidone. A big part of that reason is lobbing. And the side effects of reglan is just plan scary.
Admit-tingly, the FDA does it job in general. But it is also a poster child of political influences and represents why government intervention in health care can be bad.
because despite most people saying they want to live in a free country where they can make their own decisions...a lot of people want someone else (the government) to make decisions for themselves.
And they promise there will be free elections in the country as soon as everyone learns a musical instrument. Kim says, 'it is part of a new cultural incentive program."
This sounds like a punishment for doctors being rude. It is pretty common that doctors abuse nurses and tech staff and it is understood that nurses and tech staff just suck it up.
Imagine the interest on $10million!

Criticizing movies is not art. Nor even a nice profession :)
"and view 1 million photos every second"
what they mean is
1 million horribly compressed photos every second.
But it is way too clear and doesn't flicker at all!
Yeah we have an app for that.
Don't you mean "We have a cap for that!"?

Blocking porn and gambling sites is probably a good idea for liability purposes, but I can't see that it helps productivity.
Blocking highly addictive sites such as porn and gambling...I CAN see how that would help productivity.

Don't think that is in the RFC (ROFL!)
