There were waaay too many gags to catch the first time around. I actually hope they slow down the pace of the show. Like a typical pilot the characters were introduced rather clumsily and quickly, and I hope they don't burn out from trying to cram in too many jokes every episode. I really like this show and wanna see it last.
My school was on the quarter system, and of the three months that a class would span, we had the first 3 weeks to decide if we wanted to drop the class, no questions asked. Maybe my mom got terminally ill or the class was too hard, or even if I didn't like my professor's beard. I could drop the class before the third week was over without any penalty.
Did the students have an opportunity to drop out early? That would make all the difference in the world.
If they weren't given a chance to quit without getting an F, I guess that gives the case credibility. The person who told them to quit their jobs and take this "point and click" class would be at fault, IMHO.
If they did have a chance to quit without penalty, if, after a week or two into the class, Joe Q. Student decided that this class was too hard and still stayed anyways, screw him. It's his fault for staying even after he found out that it wasn't "point and click."
What about the people who quit their jobs to take this class? I dunno.
For those who say that the music is getting worse, I have to disagree with you. We've always had lame music, it's just that when we start reminiscing about music "from the good old days" we tend to remember only the songs we like and forget all the crap we didn't listen to.
Look, five years from now, we'll be complaining about how music got so much worse after the millenium. People will always complain about music getting worse. We always have and always will continue to get shrink-wrapped corporate music like New Kids on the Block, Color me Badd, Spice Girls, NSync, 98 Degrees, etc.

The Windows Refund Day was based on the fact that Microsoft was forcing other companies into putting Windows on every system. If Compaq or Dell made their own operating system, they'd have every right to install it on their own computers. Hence, since Apple makes their own brand of computers, they have every right to install whatever the hell they want.
Strangely enough, IBM's arm has been twisted by MS so bad that they don't even install OS2 on any of their systems anymore.
I registered 2 domain names a few weeks ago for $70 a pop. The article says they're $119 now. Am I missing some fine print somewhere, or did they just ratchet up the prices a couple of notches?
*Sigh*... You know, I was totally okay with having a single organization for domain names, I didn't mind the fact that it was a govt-sponsored monopoly, as long as it was quick, convenvient and did what it was supposed to. Now the internic seems to be following the trend of software bloat, focusing on self-promotion instead of doing its job.
Nobody who has a cracked site spends the time to create a pretty front page announcing that they were broken into. Also, I don't know the URLs to the other pages, but someone says the rest of the site is still there and that only the index page is different.
Anyone recall when Spielberg had that PR stunt, pretending that the Lost World website was cracked into? Jeez, that was even worse. The front page was professionally drawn, there were no political statements or cusswords, and worst of all, it was signed... Hakerz!
Seeing as how they have the Secure Digital Music Initiative, stage 4 is "Embrace/Extend"...?

I recall some successful project to implant electronics into humans 1 or 2 years ago. Some researcher implanted a little plug in his arm that had a unique radio-transmitted ID. He walked around a special building and when he walked up to doors, they'd open automatically when they scanned his body and received his ID.
The premise was that with a unique ID for everyone, they could walk around a building and all the doors would open automatically. If a person didn't have security clearance for a certain area, his ID would reveal that fact to the scanners, and the doors wouln't open.
After the experiment was over, the guy had the plugs removed from his arm and said he felt kind of "empty" and "disconnected"...
All of this, just to save a couple calories of taking out your wallet and whipping out a keycard.
That means MS is making more money from Office than they are over their OSes. I remember reading an article about Office2000 that said that Office accounts for about 30% of Microsoft's total revenue. Hey, let's ask Microsoft for some figures! I'm sure they have records, don't they (written down on paper instead of digitally)?
This might be another FUD campaign to kill all off development of all other Linux office suites. As soon as rumors of MS Office for Linux fly out, Star and Corel decide maybe they don't wanna dump too much money into developing their Office suites if MS is gonna take over anyways. Then, when Corel and Star are dead, MS stops development of their own Office suite, points at Linux and says "See! They don't have any good software!"
That's my conspiracy theory. More realistically, I think they'll make Office for Linux, release it, and rake in a ton of dough from newbie corporate Linux users who are forced to standardize on MS software...
Of course, M$ could easily disband the development team and deny they ever existed...
I've been reading c't's website for the past couple years, and they don't open their mouths unless they know what they're talking about. Unfortunately only a few of their articles come out in english, and i can't read a lick of german.
The main problem for Excel (or Powerpoint too) is when you embed something in your chart. You can kiss whatever you embedded goodbye when you open it on the other platform. This especially sucks when you get files in Japanese. It still boggles my mind how MS could overlook problems like this.
I would like a spreadsheet standard, but is there one for spreadsheets the way they have ASCII and Unicode for text?
Without any help from starwars.com, despite what the news websites told you. Every person who went to download the trailer from starwars.com was sent to an apple server. Of course, they were running solaris...
I took the movie down. And no, it's not still there in some hidden directory.
It's on my homepage.
It's in Motion JPEG A, I'm not sure if that's compatible with Xanim. If it's not, email me.
I don't wanna get charged for going over my data transfer limit, (it's Netcom) so I'm only making it available for 1 hour.

The Skynet, James WJ Rose mirrors are working too.
BTW, if anyone's wondering, the trailers are all the same size, about 11MB.
Trailer C Mirrors
Most of the mirrors are past their connection limits. The one at Advancenet an the one in Mexico are working and the download speed is pretty good.
http://theforce.net/prequels/ I'm downloading one now, it looks pretty kickass!

There's only two entities that have ever been called the "Evil Empire" and one of them broke up into several republics in the early 90's.
Would anyone hazard a guess on how many developers this is likely to affect?

Having a job title doesn't automatically mean you're good at your job. In this case, it seems that Bruce spoke too soon.
The DNS competition gates open in May.
Which makes me wonder, what if 2 parties register the same domain name at 2 different domain name services at the same time? Who gets to keep it?
