I ride a stripped down chopper to work. Where are they going to put it that isn't sticking out like a sore thumb?
For that matter, in my home town of Portland, Oregon, there are thousands of folks who ride bicycles full time. They share the same roads and even have their own lane. Are they going to stick GPS tracking devices on them too and make them pay for road use?
Let's organize ourselves and all call on the same day to ask about their "license" pricing. They have a 800 number ((800) 726-8649) so the dime is on them. How much long distance charges can./ rack up?
Great. Oregon doesn't have sales tax. So this means that I'd have to pay an EXTRA 7% or so just for ordering online plus shipping. No this won't take away from online sales from Oregon at all.
I got this snippet from the free2air.org site. They were discussing a way to redirect anonymous 802.11 surfers to a central webserver.
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 10.0.0.0/24 -d 143.207.0.0/16 -p tcp --dport 80 -j DNAT --to 143.207.1.22
That would redirect anything from the 10.0.0.0 subnet on port 80 to
the outside world 143.207.1.22 web server.
I don't think this would be very hard to modify. You would just have to identify who's infected. This is also not very hard.
I used to use (and promote the use of) Enhydra's free InstantDB Java database. One day (this summer) I went to the site and they had revoked the free license and replaced it with a $99 license. I stopped using it immedediately. I now use Cloudscape as it is at least free for development.
I was able to create a bootable 5 Gig Personal Beos Installation! A) Boot BeOS Personal under Linux or Windows B) Create a new BeOS Partition of any size on yer hard disk somewhere. C) Mount the Beos4Linux image file via loopback. (mount image.be/someplace) D) Copy all the files in the image to your big partition. E) Reboot with floppy.img disk:) P.S. - I bet dual procs will work too! P.S.S - does anybody know how to make a BFS bootable? (ie. "belo" or something?)
When I heard the last story about IOs, I went and reported my credit card stolen so that they couldn't charge me. I bought 2 and said that they were "gifts", but I don't trust 'em.
"They are the best trained group of networking professionals on the planet; the world listens to them, and follows their advice and insight." Hmmm. I know some MSCE certified folks that really don't know their networks from their ass. Kind of a bold statement methinks.
Check out the new screen shots on www.linux-hacker.com/iopener.... windbloze 98 is running and if you look in the corner you can see the modem internet connection....
What about situations like this?

This is rediculous.
Yawn...
Archos AV400 supports audio, video (divx/xvid), photos and act as a USB external drive too. 80GB models are available today and work with most any OS.
It seems to me that iPods tend to be more of a status symbol than a breakthrough in technology.
[This is not meant as a flame. I own a 17" Powerbook myself.]
Cool!

Maybe Gentoo should skip 1.4 and go directly to 9 to catch up!

Blood -> Turnip -> Squeeze
Slashdot sinks to new editorial lows. I'm outa here.

OK. I'll have to bite on that one. JoeLinux user shouldn't open his mouth to flame until doing his homework. FreeBSD has had SMP for eons....
