I know. I was in for a checkup recently and came to the realization that of all the things I have been able to toy and tinker with, my doctor was essentially programming my heart.
I almost cried as I realized I had just been outgeeked, since I would never be allowed to operate the control panel. My doctor has toys that I cannot play with.
At least for mine, it looks like a coupler-style modem with 2 leads that attach to your wrists. There's a magnet included as well (at least on mine) that cause a different signal to be sent.
My base unit doesn't have internet connectivity, though I suppose it potentially could be done that way someday.
As a side note, Nora Guthrie (Woody's daughter, Arlo Guthrie's sister) is the curator of the Woody Guthrie collection has been handing out bits and pieces of her fathers poetry, lyrics, and unfinished songs to various musicians to finish up or add melodies to. The Klezmatics have recorded an entire album of Woody's lyrics, and I've heard plenty of other songs from other musicians who have received a piece of his writing.
Correct. David Letterman has his own production company for his show, as opposed to NBC which owns "The Tonight Show". Worldwide Pants came to a separate agreement with the WGA to get Letterman back up and running. NBC would have had to come up with an agreement for the entire studio to get Leno back up and running.
I really don't know why the different shows didn't just hire scabs and keep going
Because the actors are represented by the Screen Actors Guild, and the stagehands by the ISTEA. If the studios tried hiring scabs to replace the writers, the actors and stagehands would have walked out as well.
If ISPs charge for higher bandwidth usage, then they'll encourage more bandwidth usage and plow some of the new profits back into infrastructure, provided there is competition.
Sorry, higher prices will discourage more bandwidth usage.
The real question is "what is the elasticity of demand for bandwidth"?
With Godaddy, where I have a domain hosted, if I try to send something that looks like a Paypal/ebay spoof, it gets rejected while sending. (Even if I am sending it to the paypal/ebay spoof reporting addresses.)
But if FF numbers are raising and those numbers are accurate, than it follows MS isn't (or can't) leverage its OS monopoly
No, it was Microsoft's interference in business contracts that prevented OEM computer manufacturers from bundling alternate web browsers on computers that had Windows installed.
The fact that I can download and install Firefox isn't the issue. The issue is that Microsoft illegally used its monopoly in the operating system market to interfere with the web browser market.
I know it's a little limiting because it only has 2 internal 3.5" drive bays, but I think the Shuttle SD11G5 could be a good choice. It is a mostly-quiet Intel Pentium-M driven solution with on-board graphics and an external power supply (sort of how a laptop operates.) Power supply is rated at 220 watts, but running pretty barebones, the draw is far less than that.
I run one with Mandriva on it and do some file sharing on my home network and use it as a print server.
Over the past week or so, I've noticed that a couple torrents I was seeding have started to send data. And it's not the reset-wait to timeout-send-sandvine spoof-loop that had been going on. It's uploading all the time.
Well, that's primarily a Department of Justice/Federal Trade Commission issue, not an FCC issue, though the FCC will most certainly get its hands on it.

I'm not holding out much hope for the new Mischodon I found yesterday in the Philadelphia Museum of Natural Science! :(

This might or might not be a good thing... dunno.

There's also the MedicAlert E-HealthKey, a USB flash drive that has your medical information on it.
Obviously, the MedicAlert bracelet/necklace is more useful for immediate/life threatening conditions.
