Ah... verry rarely does "monkey wrenching" or tree spiking ever occur these days. Most in the green movement see it as taboo.....
In my old treesit days, we used to get fresh faced young punks coming down with grand plans of tank-sugaring and mantraps. Usually within a day of exposure to experienced greenies, they realised that not only was damaging other folks gear morally dodgy, but actually endangered greenies and their cause.
It's possible to stop a forrest logging without damaging a loggers gear. They need that stuff for the more enviro-friendly plantation & selective logging.
Perhaps. There are the so called "extreme biocentric" guys who really don't like the modern world. But that does not at all characterise tree-sitters.
I spent six months up and down a tree sit in australia. Oh, I also work as a sys admin. We ran wires & wireless stuff all around that forrest. We kept up to date websites. And we locked on when they tried to log a bilby breeding ground.
It's a case of science. It's worth pointing down that over half the people at the blockades where uni trained biologists who felt that since the politicians chose to ignore science, something drastic needs to be done. We where joined by a 80yo+ founding member of the liberal party (the conservative party in government) , a catholic nun. We where supported by the farming community and the members of the federal opposition (and a few from government on the quiet) regularly visited.
Yes yes, damn kids not taking this seriously. I fully agree, and I might add , not only do we need key apps like Office & IE, we also need productivity software like Clippy & Bob.
Miguel. Congratulations on this milestone, I honestly doubted it and I'm now eating my words!
Now, backpat asside, how will using winelibs for the winforms stuff impact on the LinuxPPC & alpha stuff (etc)... Can this be worked around... It'd sure be nice to run this on those crazy little powermac penguin boxen I got bangin' around my workplace. (I'm picturing here running borlands eventual kylix.net apps on nutty old macs!)
Nah mate. Miguel should be given a pat on the back for actually dealing with punters in a helpfull way. Let it ride dude, it sure beats "grits" or cluster imagining.
Actually, not being a physics guy and all, I've always wondered how they actually contain all that antimatter in startrek without stuff, like, cancelling each other out and blowing the crap outa everything.
A physics mate told me that a nuke is about 10% efficient in converting stuff to energy and that antimatter cancellation is 100% efficient. Never got around to asking him how one would stop that happening.
Wow. I'd actually reaaly like to know that. I did a job with an axis 2400 that we hooked it up to a cisco aeronet thing. Worked a charm... But EXPENSIVE. This baby+80211b addon would be fsking majik.
Lucky Hemos:) So ya comin' to visit our humble state of West Aust. Quick travel tip. Make sure you get some time off to visit Margret river to Albany region. Best wine in the world. Pretty close to biggest tree and fine fine fine looking ladies (and blokes I suppose?) each and every one of em.:) You'll enjoy it.
Fortunately dude, those lawyers are going to sue them. So at least that part of the world *will* work that way if the law suit succeeeds. You see, just cause something happens , doesnt make it right. Fucking over the stupid is not right. Hey what about tricking downes syndrome people with "wallet inspector" routines. That might work, but it wouldnt make it right. We are the technological literates of the world. Most people aint. And thats who the lawsuite is representing.
And as for your question of what if I was the CEO of bonzi? I guess I'd do the world a favor , settle the claim and liquidate the company.
I think theres two options in making this film. If its authentic to the book, its worth remembering that the book have a sense of humor. Plus with stuff like "positronic brains" and computers the size of buildings , I suspect a tounge will need to be put in the cheek.
*OR* we can completely shuffle the thing and kill positronics etc, and have a dead serious.... and perhaps boring.... film.
Precisely. And if "broadcasting" means telling a webserver who wants the page then I cant see how this can be remidied. "Hey webserver, someone wants a web page. Please disregard this however, because I won't tell you who".... Nope can't see it working.
UNLESS a proxy is involved.
And lets face it , do we REALLY want bonzi knowing every page we see via a proxy.........
But it's dishonest suckerbucks. And to be honest, dude I think it's morally bankerupt (wow thats the second time I've used that phrase today!) to steal from the dumb to give to the smart. Frankly , I still yearn for the days of the grey website when you could actually find what you where lookin for without having some stupid popup say "Your IP number is 192.168.0.3! You can get haxored!" I say Bring the assholes down and lets get some integrity back in this industry.
Dude. Kill the marketing talk on the site. It all sounds very nice and all, but I can't for the life of me figure out what you sell. Perhaps get a marketing-droid to put a more sensible spin on it, or if youve got one, get a different droid. A friendly suggestion:)
Indeed it is used on the axis cameras. for a mining job a while back we had to do some development due to a busted panasonic pan tilt head driver in the axis box. Unfortunately AXIS where not forthcoming in the driver code (grrr) so we had to wangle our own. Ladies and gentlemen;- I wrote the driver in PHP(!) , and consequently the damn boa server directly controled the servos via the serial port on the unit. Most completely impressed (except for the closed source axis driver... grrr).
Isn't it scary that one of the most powerfull computer clusters in the world spends half its time looking for pr0n. I remember once being a little..... erm.. drunk, and amusing myself in a uni computer lab having altavista , hotbot, yahoo and excite all simultaneously searching for "sausage politics". It struck me as rather bizare having the finest computer dataminers inthe world all simultaneously searching for left-wing sausages. self abuse hey? *hICK!*

Chose your stereotypes wisely my friend
Yes yes, damn kids not taking this seriously. I fully agree, and I might add , not only do we need key apps like Office & IE, we also need productivity software like Clippy & Bob.
Not only that but;-
Basic != Visualbasic != Visualbasic.net
C++ != Visual C++ != Visual C++.net
Can you see a pattern forming!

*sulk*

Ah.. If it's anything like the axis, it'lll be a streaming jpeg over ip.
Streaming jpeg is quite litterally just a http stream with jpeg after jpeg after jpeg rammed down it. Inefficient but dead easy to decode.
I swear you could probably write it in python.
Wow. I'd actually reaaly like to know that.

*shudder* Are people still doing spellingflame trolls. I thought that nonsense got old years ago..
Perhaps "Foundation" is waiting for Peter Jackson to finish with the LOTR series so someone can hit it with the respect and the budget it deserves.
I dunno.

Ah.... reminds me of a recipe I heard for "blowfish".
Put the fish in a big pot fulla water. Put in herbs. Spices, a bit of butter. boil for two hours, throw away the fish and eat the pot.

Can you spot the ploy at play here?

Which is fascinating.
The site is slashdotted to the core at the moment....ergo crashed. Um.. yay win2000?????
Perhaps the study should say "Windows has a lower TCO by 11%... Only problem is that the site will suck by an extra 11%

fair call :)

t0qer, does it bother you that you could of been the guy with the $200k if you used your initiative? Think about it.
Most O/S millionaires are the ones that go "Hey, we support this stuff, and people then give us money. Too easy."
Oh god..... I just looked "Naked digimon girls". WTF?????? Get a life folks!
