Copyrights is what makes your thing your. Even a drawing is copyrighted to you. The Swedish wording is better "upphovsratt". It's 'the legal right to your creation'.
I do however enjoy some of this fud like the blatant misquote of RedHats patent statement. (They don't even mention copyright, so what pipe did Darl smoke when he saw that??)
Yes i agree that a locally stored mirror of a file would be faster and better, but, you seem to be running/help to run one of those isps that are good. My isp only offers windows games updates and mainly CounterStrike at that. So for me.torrent might be the only highspeed download left at some point. (My isp offers 10mbit to it's costumers and are working on offering 100mbit)
And yes i agree, i mainly wanted to oppose the views that it would kill the root servers etc etc =)
If someone adds TXT records to their dnses and in turn to their dns slaves it's their buissnies, how the hell will this affect all dnses available in the world? You generally ask the "owner dns" but yes, if you ask your "ips's dns" or someone elses dns then they might cache the result.
But how bad is that really? How large is a.torrent file? And wouldn't linux distrobutiors enjoy this?
$large_isp has several users who wants to download $linux_dist. The first user gets the TXT record and is off downloading. And the rest of em uses the cached record (if it is cached) in either case $linux_dist's webserver dosn't suffer as hard and they can always add more slave dnses to handle the load. Perhaps users even starts slave servers for that zone to help the dist.
(Is there really a rule that says "you have to cache and store TXT for $TTL time".)
And whats this with spelling? I mean you totally miss the point and... complain about spelling? is that the end of the world? =)/me is also a typical Swedish geek =)
There will most likley be no opensource driver for some time, but you could use the NDIS wrapper to get the information you need about chipstates. You could try to check everything that the driver does and this would infact speedup driver development.
A NDIS wrapper is still needed imho since it will support new hardware faster, and if it allows us to disect the driver it will also speed up driver development. (There are alot of ppl out there mad enugh to write a driver if they can get the information needed.)
Okay, so my original statement still stands then =)
Anyways, I still think that running linux on XBox is a good thing since it's available everywhere and most things other ppl have mentioned is somewhat localized (or, 2 countries?).
As soon as Amiga is mentioned we get a bunch of uneducated morons running around insulting everyone or just beging pains.

About nsa's linux:
http://www.nsa.gov/selinux/index.html
First of all, if you use LILO/SILO and do a 'linux single' then you
get a single user mode, and doing a init 1 enables you to update
glibc.2, GCC 3.0 should be v9 optimizing? and improved or am i
mistaken?
3, Comparing SYSV pkg to rpm/deb? They are working aproximaltey the
same but is pkg open?... And putting tgz in this section is just dumb.
4, LD_LIBRARY_PATH works on linux even LD_PRELOAD(afair) works.
And i agree that Solaris is a good operating system, but it's a slug
compared to a nice Linux install or OpenBSD since it's supposed to be
even faster than linux.
All i can say is that this discussion has goten way out of hand...
Afaik there are no way to actually boot linux kernel 2.4.4 on a
sparc... I have applied the patches, I have dled the cvs kernel, And
i'm still trying.
Once again it's not about distrobutions, It's about the kernel.
PS. I currently run a manually updated RH 6.0 sparc install on my ipx
and i have to say that the ipx is a really nice machine.
I even run ROXEN 2.1 on it but generating TTF fonts to gif/jpeg images
can take a some time depending on the amount needed. (I know i only
did it for fun.)
Sparc is a fscking superior cpu to anything x86, the speed is a diff
story though.
DS.
Lastwords: I just want the kernel to work, ie any global changes to
the kernel should be reflected to the kernel, and it hasn't been done
yet. If it has then where are the patches?
Ehm, i think you guys are going on a sidetrack...
Somehow this has become a dist war...
And just a hint to some ppl, Afaik Debian isn't a linux distro...
It just USES the linux kernel *temporarly*.
The most intresting aspect of all this is that linux arch updates for
sparc is slow and dosn't seem to join the main kernel tree untill much
later. (or am i mistakend?) fx, There is a patch that makes 2.4.4
compile on a sparc now, but you need a some special sbus drivers etc
etc so all in all it's quite a large download.
And gennerally i have to say that i was very disapointed when i saw
that linux had no support for the 'OpenPROM' built in watchdog... Heck
ofa lot better than a sw watchdog...
And i have also read that the scsi drivers leaves something to be
desired and also about the mmu thing. And a funny thing about it is
that it's being used as a OpenBSD/NetBSD strong point...
Flames >/dev/null other, mail or reply, you'll underdstand how to use
the email...
Actually, The movie looks 3d the same way that "The Iron Giant" was 3D... I've seen parts of it and it seems good, Although it hasn't reached Sweden yet... Having a movie with all 3D (3d looking) caracters is harder since you have higher expectations on skin color etc etc.

Not avail in sweden afair.
What countries is it avail in?
What?
Xbox is avail in europe, Walmart isn't.

And the retroradio posted here is only a Nectarine relay....
It does since 2.7X, so 2.8X++ and 3.0 should have it.
Comparing a 128kbit mp3 with a ~32kbit ogg isn't smart, I mean imagine what a 128kbit ogg must sound like.
And, what a 32kbit mp3 sounds like...
Well, Still how would they know whats changed?
I mean besided going trough the code =)

Steve Jobs? have i missed something and, http://www.sparc.org..... or you mean general drivers?
