The students appear to be treating the class as work, instead of a learning experience.
"The problem, of course, is that some students just grab the final-result file and rename it and turn it in." Well, those students will not do well on a test designed in the same manner using a set of teacher supplied images.
Personally, I think the teacher is trying to do too much, if she is comparing images looking for small differences. Let the test tell you who LEARNED and who didn't.
Choose your own adventure !! With a childs limited attention span, the ability to go back and pick another storyline is great, plus the stories are shorter.
Does anyone know if VOIP will allow ADT and other home security systems to still function properly, ie., calling out in an emergency and calling out for routine system checks?
Anyone else think this sounds a little bit SPOOKY.
From Star Trek - The Movie V'Ger arrives at Earth and signals its Creator. When there is no response, V'Ger blasts energy bolts at the planet in an attempt to rid it of all its carbon infestations.
You have to remember that this is MS and the ordinary business models do not apply. Bill Gates does not care if they lose 100$ or 300$ per console, as long as he wins or his competition suffers. I predict that before Christmas MS will start the next price war and drop there price first, this could easily be done; there will be more games available, and at an even lower price it will start looking good for those who would use the hardware for other projects. This of course will be followed by Nintendo and Sony crying foul for predatory pricing.
With 4000 servers you would need to know the name of the server and the location (which would require an additional server map). Why not combine the two requirements and use GPS coordinates! Hey Bob the N30-24-66_W97-54-19 server just went down, go reboot it!
I was downloading the install file, then it aborted on me, I went back to the site to begin downloading again and received a file not found! I think the site was either slashdotted or the file was removed for other reasons.

Using this link from a previous post I see something ODD on the IE screenshot. The 'Back' button is spelled "Bac" and 'Stop' is "Sto" all of the buttons are this way on the IE screenshot. Is this to keep copyright lawyers at bay, or is something else awry?
Doctor: I'm sorry maam we've lost him.
maam: Oh! Banjo we hardly knew thee.
Doctor: I call the time of death as Friday August 03, @11:21AM
maam: Oh Banjo!!
Doctor: Maam, there will be other Banjo's, its time to let go, its time to pull the plug.
YANK!!!
I saw Robot Wars UK, last week for the first time, it comes on at 10:30 PM EST on our public television station MPT There are no sports casters (yeah!) The host is Craig Charles of whom many of you may know from the UK sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf When I watched the show they went through maybe 6 matches, of course this was on Public Television (no commercials!) and last 30 minutes. The game runs a bit differnet than battlebots, there are 'House' robots in the corners, and if you are pushed or happen to wander into there area you are free game, or if your bot has been incapacitated they will take you out and dump you in the pit, yes there is a pit you fall into. ROBOT WARS UK
You dont open the mail, and just write "Return to Sender" on the outside? if you do this all the time, they may think they have the wrong address and stop. Just like when you move into a new house and the old residents mail keeps coming you just put it back in the mailbox, with "return to sender" on it. Better than wasting my time finding something icky to put inside.
Imagine if you will, The Future. The "phone" rings its mom & dad sitting on the couch, but you see them inside the 'dome' as if they were figurines in a 'snow globe' and they see you the same way. You could even make it snow on them.
Fred Moody has missed the point entirely! I can't beleive you use him to voice ABCNews' opinion on Linux. Does he run Linux? Has he ever installed Linux? Linux is open source, I can look through the code and find bugs. This is why there are more bugs than Microsoft; and why they are fixed faster and more often than Microsoft. Joe Sixpack cannot look through the code of Windows, any Windows product. You have to wait for Microsoft to fix there product, whereas I can fix my own beacuse I have the source code! Security through obscurity does not work, we all know that what you do not know CAN hurt you. I can only hope in the future if you are going to write about Linux that you recruit someone who is knowledgable on the subject and not someone who is bias towards Microsoft (easily seen through past articles from Mr. Moody, he has done nothing but put a positive spin on past MS events).
OK, the little black box has been programmed to look for Joe BadGuy. Joe BadGuy is under suspicion for something, we would like to review his email/surfing habits. Example is set in an ISP/Dial-up environment. Joe BadGuy dials in recieves his dynamic IP, and continues to sift through his email and surf. How would the box recognize which pakets are his, or how would it know which IP is his, if they are dynamically allocated? Is the Blck Box tied to a login register with the ISP, or does the ISP have caller ID on all dial-ins and send a message to the box that Hey! Joe BadGuy has called in and is on #.#.#.# Anybody shed somelight on my infantile example.
With all these monster telescopes just over the horizon (Good article in Sky & Telescope this month) aimed at discovering further into the deepest pockets of the universe. My question is what kind of detail can be seen to nearby cellestial objects, ie.. the moon, the ISS passing overhead. Or are these objects too close to see in detail. I thought it would be great to zoom in on the moon where we landed and see the footprints, or landing cradle, or watch the astronauts assemble the ISS. Just a few thoughts.

I'm not much of a developer but with all these privacy concerns these days, seems to me that a group could code a browser that works around these privacy 'problems'. We've seen 3rd party software to do away with cookies (so you don't have to keep pressing 'No') maybe incorporate that into a browser that did it for you. Along with a workaround to this P3P nonsense, maybe go old school with plain GET requests to the server or just include your favorite politicians' name, DOB, address, email to send to the requesting website to 'voice' your concerns.
Wonder how much this ad space went for?
