We raise hell because they are butchers about it, at least in south jersey (PSE&G).
Have a 300 year old tree near the lines? Let's cut down 80% of it so we dont have to come back and trim again in the next 20 years.
That's just HR Drones looking for their beloved checklist items. Someday they will learn, I hope.
As someone without a degree, I can tell you that those "requirements" evaporate rather quickly if you are even mildly persistent or have even half that time in real world job experience.
The poster I replied to said "If you were a believer in meditation you would not believe in such divisive speech."
I can close my eyes and sit quietly and reflect upon something, but it does not mean I am going to stop using profane language or cruel humor.
Divisive speech and meditation are unrelated.
If I have a copy of software on a floppy diskette, and I run a magnet by it, is it not at least somewhat ruined?
What if that was the only location where that software existed? Isn't it "lost" or degraded?
Software is not magically ported or retained. The electrons _can_ get screwed up, even on "good" media.
This happens to all kinds of media, and when transferring to/from.
Time will claim all copies.
Kind of to your point, emulators are usually driven by lack of available hardware.
I cant buy a NES off the shelf anymore, so an emulator is usually my only recourse if I want to feed an addiction to Battletoads.
Because, the thing is, unless you have an actual engineering degree from a bona fide school of engineering, or you drive a locomotive, or maintain a ship's engines, you're not an engineer.
I know, I know... You want people to think you are an engineer, and you want us to say you're an engineer, because it sounds really important, way more so than just "programmer".
But you're not an engineer, unless, as I said, you have an engineering degree from a bona fide school of engineering, or you drive a locomotive, or maintain a ship's engines.
You sir, are an idiot. An engineer does not a degree make, and if you think that having that lil' ol' piece of paper makes any difference IRL you have not learned anything of real value from whatever "bona fide" institution you attended.
I do not sit at a keyboard and type commands. I apply scientific methods, experience, and some creative thinking to solve technical problems within certain tolerances. That is engineering.
I also can operate a locomotive (steam, gas, and electric), but I don't consider that "engineering".
I also find the c# IDE experience "lags" more than VB.NET. This is especially apparent with navigation commands (Go to definition, nav back/forward, etc) - executing them causes a pause/hiccup and then you are taken to the place you requested, but is also present in the background compiler (so slow to remove that syntax error).
It was bad in 2008, and better in 2010 but still not enough in 2012..
Because we view the wait time for downloads to finish and videos to buffer as a horrible waste of our time.
Then we go watch Cable Pundit news, and stand in line at McD's.
Go figure.

Its a reduction in stress, not a lesson in tact.
Not to mention air pollution. It is harder to breathe for some in the city, even for the commute.
You want a horrible viewing experience, get the film.
The fact the the "SyFy" channel is still on the air proves that some people do want a horrible viewing experience!
Also, Uwe Boll is still making movies.
Even the deliciousness of poutine is baffling.

The media the code lives on is physical, and does suffer from degradation.
This only works until 13-14 at most.

Jim Beam is the worst bourbon. Get some Old Granddad 100 or Buffalo Trace.
All these comments and not one single reference to The FIfth Element's bartender in the ship port. ... YOU WANT SOME MORE?
No they don't. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of users don't consider the most expensive plans to be the "default".
The data plans are what is limited and expensive. Free/unlimited SMS comes with most of the basic packages.
I write that stuff (not FOSS), but we could use an ERP system other than SAP.
Not everybody in the "third world" lives like that.
You are missing the Temple of Doom reference.
It will only be a matter of time before Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling starts crying about how this is his joke and he should be paid for it.
Or just "programmer"?

Same experience here, though on windows 8.

WIll you please run for office?

That was actually bulls on parade
