If you saw a quarter on the ground would you refuse to pick it up because it belonged to someone at one point? It's just laying there on the ground. The person that lost it probably doesn't even care, right? Where do you draw the line on morality and circumstances? I know it's a far stretch but even though the blame is obviously on the hacker, don't you think the POTUS should be a bit more careful? Especially in this day and age. I would be tempted to give him a firm slap in the face if I knew he had ever considered using "password" for an account password, or his mother's maiden name for a security question. *looks over shoulder for secret service*.

  5. Self-taught too. on What Knowledge Gaps Do Self-Taught Programmers Generally Have? · · Score: 4, Informative

Being self taught myself, I think the biggest downside is some of the strategies and standards that are taught in the mainstream curriculum (IE: how to properly use the object-oriented model, etc.). Especially when I first started out, my code may get the job done, but it wasn't the cleanest or best approach. Luckily, I think it will come to you in time if you focus on improving your code.

  6. Es-ca-pe on PA School Spied On Students Via School-Issued Laptop Webcams · · Score: 1

How did they think would get away with that? It's one thing if they detected the laptop was on the school's Wifi and then they can activate the webcam then. Still a privacy issue but at least it's within their grounds. If everything was recorded I would have to assume that one of the adults watching saw what could be considered "kiddie-porn". This isn't going to end well for the school I'm sure.

Agreed. The math input panel is a great tool. Even when it doesn't recognize the variable/symbol/number you tried to write, it only takes a couple quick clicks to fix it. I've played around with it for quite some time and would find it very useful in any sort of class that dealt with equations.

  14. Re:problematic for some: on AMD's Phenom II 965, 3.4GHz, 140 Watts, $245 · · Score: 1

I completely agree with that... AMD is my top choice for clients with simple computer needs. Why? Cheap and easy to upgrade (when said client gets convinced by some meatball relative that they NEED 4gb of RAM in their PC for the 20 minutes of web surfing they do in a day...)

Either way, both AMD and Intel have their markets, I don't think it will be too much of an upset if AMD grabs the midrange market... Hopefully, us consumers can sit back and enjoy as they "competitively price" their latest offerings...
