    And in a lot of cases it is. If a page starts with <HTML>, ends with </HTML>, and has a myriad of other html tags in it, chances are it's html and the admin screwed up.

    In Australia (or WA at least) you put a sign saying "No junk mail" on your letterbox and it's illegal to put any unaddressed mail into it.

    And I have an old HP handheld PC running windows ce that hasnt crashed ever. And I've been using it non-stop for almost a year. I say WinCE is the most stable Windoze OS i've seen.

    Other animals can "see" IR, maybe we could too

    If you want to see IR, point a remote control at a camcorder. It detects it as light and you can actually see the the signal coming from it through your camera's screen like you would if it was a pulsing lightglobe or something.

    Has Warner Brothers or any other company released movies on VCD? I haven't seen any. I don't know why they would either. Even VHS is better quality than a VCD.

    The again, I'm from Australia so I guess it's possible that they released them in the States and they never filtered through here...

    When you redistribute a PHP script, there is no binary form. PHP works by being interpreted command-by-command as it is being run. If a company redistributes a PHP script (the script, not the output), they ARE releasing the source.
    Under the terms of the GPL, if they modify the script, they do not have to release it.


    And for everyone who's saying that the output of the script (ie. the HTML produced) should be made public because the script that produced it is GPL'd, well thats like saying everything i type in vi should be made public, because that's GPL'd.

    Sounds just like a recent IT conference I heard about in Sydney (Australia) where Microsoft threatened to pull out of doing some presentation and sponsering the conference because there were some Linux presentations.

    (sigh)

    (note: I heard this 3rd or 4th hand so don't flame me if it's rubbish) :)

    ...to install linux on any laptop (from my experience). Why do you need a seperate X server? the SVGA works just fine. Why seperate mouse drivers? A standard PS-2 mouse works.

    I think the only thing new with this article is the fact that IBM will officially support it.

    windows millenium??? you have got to be joking. i had a beta of that a few months ago. to keep it running for over an hour was a rare event. as for ie, i could never get it running. when you click the ie icon it keeps opening up a rediculous number of explorer windows until the system crashes (surprise...)

    i guess that's what you get for running beta software, but based on that i'm never touching windoze ME again (go linux!) :)

    I agree. I'd also add another catagory - hardware (it seems to be the only thing microsoft makes that works...)

    Electrons DO NOT travel at the speed of light. However, an elecric current does. All that happens is that the elctrons pass the charge from one to the other. At the speed of light. Therefore, an optical processor wouldn't be faster that a normal one because of extra speed moving the data. (Although it would be pretty cool for other reasons...think no cooling problems)

    Windows is a decent operating system.

    So how long until we see Gates release a microsoft distribution of linux so they have an excuse to port al their software and crush the open source competition? of course any MS distro would come with all the microsoft standard features, including crashes at least every 24 hours and 65,000 bugs so the producers can keep a job producing MS Linux Service Pack 2 :)

    (and people would probably buy it too...)
