.... that Saddam Hussein had something to do with 911.
Dude! I so dialed 911 yesterday, and the operator was all, like, "Dude, this is Saddam! How can I rescue you today!" Like, dude, Saddam was 911, dude!

Let me ask you something: if free trade is so good for lowering prices, then why is an average car costing more of the average salary now than it did 25 years ago?
Why does an average car today pollute less, last longer, and get better milage than a car 25 years ago?
Why is it illegal to even sell a new car that has the exact same specifications as a 25 year old car? (Government pollution laws).
Bush's plan involves at least partial privatization: if someone chooses to risk their money in the markets, 2% of their SS taxes can be diverted into private accounts, so that only 4.3% (of the total 6.3%) go into the pyramid scheme.
Note that SS tax is not 6.3%. That's only what you pay directly, the actual tax is 12.6%, but half is payed by your employer.
I used to work at Fry's Electronics in California.
Funny. I always, always walk out of Fry's without showing my receipt. I'm just waiting for them to pull that. I'd so love to sue them for false arrest.
I always thought that the way it worked was that if you were certified insane you couldn't fly, but the Catch-22 was that if you tried to get certified insane it proved that you didn't want to fly, which was an action of a sane man, therefore you had to fly. Nothing you could do would prevent you from flying.
If you or I want to unseat or kill a thug like Saddam Hussein, we're morally free to do so. He's a tyrant and a murderer. We'd only be acting on behalf of his victims.
Does this mean that he'd repeal the (not so carefully followed) US policy of not assassinating foreign leaders?
I'm drawing less than 35 watts with one of those. The harddrive takes most of the power. You won't get less than that, and 35 watts is basically less than a normal lightbulb.

And look how many people from the Vatican have already voted!
Key word: supposedly.
Kerry is a lying bastard - either he's Catholic, and believes what the Church teaches, or he's not.
But trying to pretend he is Catholic while voting for so-called "abortion rights" is a travestry.
It's even worse than Kerry pretending to be pro-gun.
I mean, c'mon, at least be open about what you stand for! Sheesh.
North Dakota looks kinda cool!
:)
I like North Dakota. I drove through it once.

Hawley-Smoot Tariff
Read about it. Learn.
And then watch HomeStarRunner
What is the difference between a permanent resident non-citizen and a citizen?
I know in Mexico only citizens can own land, or something like that.

Why does everyone keep talking about how important "democracy" is when our goverment is structured as a "republic"?
Probably because we'd keep talking about "Republicans." Which would sound weird. "Republic for the people!" really isn't a good rally cry.
Also because people are dumb.
Please let's stop the sugar-coating.
Harris agrees.
Aiieee! The boomers are coming! The boomers are coming!
Sound the alarm! Bring out our boomers! Yeah, even the baby boomers!
Well, if you're not a citizen then you won't be drafted. :)
Interestingly, I believe the EU countries allow non-citizens from other countries in the EU to vote in local elections, etc.
You're just pissed that we got the London Bridge. :)
General opinion in a number of places is that they are pretty nice. Recommend going to 512 MB RAM (some say using the dual bank feature is worth it).

Based on my G4 PowerBook, I want one.
Supposedly the 20" is the bomb.

And I want a pony.
If the sonyPod is competition, look to see the prices drop or features added.
I don't think that is possible.
The taxes are progressive, so that for a $50,000 salary: (ignoring social security)
$1000 is not taxed
$14000 is taxed at 10%
$15000 is taxed at 20%
$20000 is taxed at 30%
This means that any raise will increase net take-home pay.
At least I think that's correct.
Wow. I mean just wow.
Truth is subjective
Wow.
So are you arguing that 100s of years ago the world really was flat? That "The World is Flat" was true then but not now?
I say it was never true, but people thought it was correct, but they were wrong.
And we're probably wrong about many of our "theories" about science today. But we're closer to the truth than, say, Copernicus.

NWN and SimCity 4 so far.
Both work just fine using images created by Disk Tool Thingy.
Rather Biased.com
They've been there even before Rathergate.
Interestingly enough, all Mac games I've tried have played just fine with an image.
I have a laptop and I don't like carrying around the CDs.
I'm becoming more and more certain that the people pushing this are the companies selling "Copy Protection."

All in all, he sounds pretty intelligent.
I measured by reading the wattage of the little powerpack - it was around 60 so I assumed that I'm probably using half.
But I've never actually measured it.
