The answer lies in waiting for AI to mature enough to drive cars / planes automatically. All the vehicles communicate with some form of wireless. Perhaps some centralized computers analyze traffic. Many sensors per vehicle monitor parts for degradation, like SMART does for hard drives. Deteriorating vehicles are allowed more space and eventually must seek maintainance. Otherwise they are not allowed in the Autopilot Lanes on the freeways or skyways. To prevent aircars from crashing and cluttering the sky, cars would still stay in sky-lanes. North / South traffic might be at 1000 meters. North-East / South-West traffic at 1200 meters. East / West traffic at 1400 meters... Sky-interstates from Seattle to Portland on to Sacramento, Bay Area, Los Angeles, San Diego at 2000 meters.
Fine, but stick to one vehicle. Ditch the one for your husband. Ditch the two for your 16 and 18 year-old kids. When its snowy you could take public transportation and not deal with your driveway the entire winter. If you want fun, speed, and maybe some recklessness, how about getting a motorcycle?
If the EU and US are going to keep subsidizing milk and grain, what does it matter if its being dumped on Africain economies? Isn't the US and EU grain is cheaper than what can be produced locally? That's why its being dumped? Or are you saying that dumping is preventing the locals from growing their own which can then be exported even more cheaply?
If the Palestinians stop then the treaty signed would be more in Israel's favor than if the Palestinians agreed to stop the violence as a bargaining chip.
Once the treaty was signed and all violence from the Palestinians ceased, Israel would likely do something to provoke them. The wall they're building for example is taking land away from the Palestinians. If any Israeli land is ending up on the Palestinian side of the wall, it's a small fraction of the land taken from Palestinians.
Either side could re-ignite the violence with a bomb. Israeli military or civilians could set a bomb off in Israel. Palestinians could assassinate a peace-making leader of theirs and try to make it look like the Israelis did it.
I'd forgotten about that. I was using Windows 95 and finally had the HD space along with a decent sound card to mess with Sound Recorder. I made a five minute long file of silence and saved it as 8-bit, 11KHz. When I wanted to record something longer than one minute I imported the file, improved the quality settings, and recorded over.
i know you're being funny, but you should know those pc power & cooling fans are only 20db and not audible from more than 2 feet away. so if you've got your computer on your desk next to your monitor that's part of your problem. keep the box on the floor a few feet away.
imagine how many pedestrians will die when fuel-cell cars become popular. hopefully peds will stop just listening for cars and keep their eyes open. they shouldn't be in the street anyway.
What about in foreign countries? How do you know small firms in Taiwan or Croatia won't make chips that don't obey the three laws? Considering the flaws of current sofware and hardware, I expect supposedly safe robots of the near future will be full of lethal bugs and failures. Expect early-generation robots actually allowed any real degree of lethality and AI to malfunction or be hacked with lethal consequences.
Why is the numpad reversed from telephone pads? Which came first and why don't numpads put "1" at the top anyway? Telephones put the "0" below the "789" and most people deal with it just fine. Considering the row of most keyboards above the letters put the "0" next to "9"...
No no no. The meeting was in a big blimp over the San Francisco Bay Area. The Japanese Businessman would have no part of the proposition and May Day led him to the stairs. Once he was on the stairs May Day pushed two buttons and the stairs changed into a slide. The Businessman slid out of the blimp and died when he hit the water far below.
sorry i couldn't read your block of a post. space things out better next time. i know you can read this easily without capitalization so don't bring that up.
The world should adopt month/day/year, or year/month/day. The problem with day/month/year, is that the first piece of information doesn't give enough context. 12 March and 26 March are both likely to be about the same temperature. March 12 and August 26 are probably going to be different temperatures, and the seasons are different. Reading the month first is more informative.
Since most dates people need to keep track of are within a year of the present date, keeping the year at the end makes sense.
Do most people keep track of dates in their heads based on the month? Or do they have a list in their head that looks like: 1: March (dinner with Andre), April (spring break) 2: February (anniversary), March (Janet's birthday) 3: ETC
I suspect most keep track based on the month. Therefore the month/day/year format makes more sense. When I read a date like 12 March, I set the 12 aside in memory before learning I should file it under March.
I was upset when I found out my Cyrix 266 was actually running at 209MHz, but then I realized it was quite fast. Maybe it should have been labeled a 233, but I was impressed at how well it kept up with Intel and AMD.
Your shoes might be fine, but the insoles need to be replaced for $30 with a superior piece. Your insoles could even be better than average, but worn out from months of use.
Superfeet makes foam-over-plastic insoles that work like orthotics. The company also makes custom orthotics for doctors and realized they could make something that fits 80-90 percent of the population far better than the cheap foam in most shoes. The key is supporting the arch and heel with plastic. When the arch is supported properly, feet don't stretch out causing pain and fatigue. By supporting the arch properly weight is distributed all along the foot from heel to the ball of the foot, not just on those two points.
Superfeet makes many styles of insoles including "green" ones that replace the foam already in a pair of shoes. There is a style "blue" with slightly lower arch support for those whose arches aren't so high. If your pair of Rockports or Born shoes has the insole glued down or sown in, the "black" ones are low profile and sit on top.
OK, I thought what others are saying is that the new player still won't allow digital copies of music recorded on the hi-md.
From my blog entry earlier today:
i find it interesting and understandable that current mp3 players don't connect to other players. a computer is still needed to transfer files either between machines or over the net. yet how many years will it be until players with a firewire port can transfer files or folders to other players? since these players already work perfectly as removable computer storage drives, sharing folders should be no problem. the computer is now out of the loop. i've read that many japanese have inexpensive md playback-only portable players, and recording-capable stereo systems. well with this system the portable is both. sony, say goodbye to your advantage. instead of making mixes at home for a friend, just do it in person, but faster. of course the new technology pretty much requires a computer. sure i suppose someone could fill up a 45-hour 1GB md on their new md stereo with their cds...
***end blog
I wonder how long the delay will be from Sony's press release to hardware in stores. How long will it be before an mp3 recorder does what i'm describing and offers recording in 320kbps or.wav? They could even cut the size in half with lossless compression. Archos has a recording jukebox but it has flaws. A revision of it could go a long way towards competing.
Would you care to guess how much Sony's new hi-md portable player will cost?
how many times can friends record from one md player to another before there is a loss of quality? isn't the real-time recording a drawback? md always seemed to me as requiring CDs or recorded-md. i used to make mixes for people on $.50 tapes with the hi-speed setting on my boombox. then i burned cds. even the new md software doesn't sound as convenient as mp3 burning/copying is today. its too bad, as 50 hours playback and 8 hours per disc is very nice.
Suppose A only sometimes equals A, and A in this case is my existence. If I only sometimes exist, isn't that like the question "Am I just a brain in a jar being fed stimlation?" in that I have no choice but to assume I am not just a brain in a jar? If I'm only a brain my entire universe is suspect. If I don't always exist, then the entire universe doesn't always exist.
Don't somethings like A = A have to always be true? That kind of logical reasoning is what science is founded on, not faith.
Since science is ever working to explain that which defies logic, God is shrinking. Eventually there could be so much evidence explaining the workings of the universe that God has no place in it. At that point having faith in God without evidence of God will be as pointless as placing faith in flawed scientific theories.
As for philosophy, you can start by committing to the existence of oneself in some shape or form. Even if there is no way of knowing if one is only a brain in a jar with artificial input. There are some premises that need to be accepted, such as "A = A". That gives you a logical framework to build on. Science grows from that.

This article implies that the xbox GPU is much more comparable to a GF 3 / 4 and the GF 4 is the first PC chip to equal or surpass its power.

The trailer makes it look more like Blade Runner meets Terminator 4 plus the sterility of Minority Report.

anyone know if keyboards in other countries such as those who read right-to-left or top-to-bottom position the numbers differently?
answered my own question thanks to google. see here

Gates: "So, does anybody else wanna drop out?"
so why'd you buy a dell and not another company like ABS?
