  1. This is quite frankly wrong on UserLinux May Go Without KDE · · Score: 1

Bruce Perens said he was going with GNOME from the off (Perhaps the customer who is funding the development wanted GNOME, I don't know). Then you get a load of KDE people screaming and shouting like stupid little kids, I read KDE's proposal to try and get in and it was very good, and also mature. however the decision was already made, Most of immature flamewar on the list has died down now, but you still get KDE people saying "I want to be able to RMB in XMMS and then it write a CD in K3B".

Don't like the way this one is forming, Form your own, or just add bits of Debian to it (it's debian based)

Mac address don't go any further than the first router and certianly don't get put into TCP/IP packets for transmition accross the NET. therefore AOL or anyone else (not on your local LAN) would have a hard time using your MAC address to find a stolen computer

Yeh but they've been fucking firewire wire drives on the Jaguar install, and about 2 weeks before that there was some network issue wasn't there with some botched upgrade.

I'm not sure i buy all this apple does not give a shit, shit. but they really ought to do some decent testing, wiping peoples backups they made to install 10.3 in the installation of 10.3 would make me instantly never go back. as it is a friend of mine has just given me a quickish g4 (no ram/hdd but i put them in myself) and i quite like it, but do i _really_ want it seeing my samba shares as it may wipe them!!!!

I've got a Tunsten-T and using Gnome2, I can't get Evolution and the Tungsten-T to sync. Got pilot-xfer and all that working fine so I'm waiting for Evolution2 and gnome-pilot2 to be released. JPilot does an OK job of being a desktop for the Palm tho so its not too bad I guess.

I'm still happy with the Palm, Plucker is really neat, I love to be able to play ogg's, Just wish there were more Free software for it.

The cops are totally unaccountable for that and you can't even look at your own record, if it says I'm a peadophile I will not know about it (and could not), I could kiss goodbye to ever having a teachers job if that were my ambition and I would never know why (BTW this happened to a freid of a CS teacher I had).

  12. Take time to find out what .NET is before responce on Petreley on Ximian and Mono · · Score: 1

the thing that annoys me about what all you people are saying is that you only see ximian copying MS, this is not really true. There is a VM like java but unlike java it can communicate with other languages. Think about it, you can split up your project into different area's, do your reports in perl, your network stuff in c++ and do your UI in something like python. you can create objects in one languate that have been created in another. Yes MS did publish the specs and we are implementing them, it will not include Hailstorm/Passport/OtherMsShit Its a platform, in MS .NET MS have made objects to access Hailstorm/Passport/OtherMsShit, if you read the Mono FAQ it says they will not be implementing them, perhaps we could make a mono.authentication.passport ourselves and just make it do something totally different, like authenticate against your slashdot login (ok maybe not). .NET is a great technology because it lets programmers with different skills work on the same project and implement different part of the project in different languages taking advantage of each languages pro's. Open Your FUCKING eyes.
