    I would in general agree with your sentiment, but pragmatically I would much rather my tax dollars go to giving people medical care who didn't inflict said medical condition on themselves in an entirely known and avoidable manner.

    Kind of like how when they gave me the literature the first time I donated blood, there was a story in the pamphlet giving an example of a guy being saved who needed 15 pints of blood transfused. I thought, Why don't you, instead of that, give it to FIFTEEN OTHER PEOPLE WHO NEEDED IT?

    Google started out with crazy inflated version numbering, whereas Firefox used to have a sane system but then decided to abandon it.

    Speaking of which...isn't Firefox almost caught up now? 22 vs. 28 I believe?

    Soldiers don't usually get charged with murder for combat operations, which they clearly thought it could be at the time, so they acted accordingly.

    How they go about deciding whether force is necessary at the time is somewhat separate.

    Funny, my use cases are the exact inverse of yours. I have a JavaScript bookmark on my bar for exactly the last use case (well, for wrapping long <pre>s, actually). I don't have a webcam and don't intend to buy one, and would use different software for that anyway if I did, and have heard enough about Mozilla "focusing on speeding up JavaScript" for the last 12 releases that I'm sure it doesn't need more boosting for the time being.

    How about *reducing* bloat? But yeah...

    Whether or not they actually did it is completely separate from:

    A) how convenient it is for the government to be able to charge him with something
    B) what exactly the government will do with him *when* he's convicted (I would like to be able to say "if"...but really)

    Like they say, you're not paranoid if they really are out to get you.

    Well yeah...if you're talking assembly, depending on the problem, you could probably have literally one ideal solution. Minimize throwing stuff around between registers, and different ops destroy the contents of different ones...

    Yeah...I'd like to see the fuckers record me if the damn thing is plugged into a power strip which is turned OFF :)

    Although it's a moot point because there's no way I'd buy any new console from Microsoft or Sony these days anyway.

  23. I still pray for the day that somebody decides to fork 3.0/3.5/3.6 and just update it for bugfixes & security. I don't think Mozilla has actually added a single feature I wanted since 3.5, and proceeded to fuck over the UI at every opportunity instead.

    If you were looking for a tablet in the first place, I would have expected you to mention the whole Internet thing in your initial post. So yeah, an mp3 player--which is what the iPod originally was anyway--does not usually compare well to a tablet. This, plus your statement that you'd rather listen to a radio, seems you weren't really looking for an mp3 player in the first place and just didn't know it.

    Oh, and the Fuze comes with a radio too. Do iPods these days? And I forgot to mention, a microphone as well, though no camera, because it's NOT A FREAKIN' TABLET.

    You might have guessed by now that I don't see the point of a tablet ;)
