I think Martha edged out Rose for first in my book as well. Not a fan of Amy or Donna, and Rory can go kill himself for the 27th time and stay dead. PLEASE.
He could arrive on an alien planet where the aliens are around our level of technology (and coincidentally speak english!) and it could still work.
Unfortunately the whole "the TARDIS translates in your head" thing doesn't really work if neither the Doctor nor his companion's native language is English, yeah...not that anybody would care...
Yeah, sounds like the perfect circumstance for one of those journalistic-convention-things in the newspaper where the most important details are in the first paragraph.
Why "should" a God have left evidence of his existence? I'm sure people would find some way to dismiss it anyway so why bother?
By way of the "teach a man to fish..." aphorism, it would seem to be better to make man think that he had solved J Random Problem himself than to just *poof* fix it.
"Elevator" is indeed a slight misnomer in that the there is no external mechanism to pull the car up. The car propels itself on the cable, which makes it more like an electric train that propels itself on a pair of rails. That said, this is hardly a dumbing down of the technology--the word "elevator" accurately conveys the fact that the car is electrically operated on a motor along a piece of cable. What is your beef?
Not to mention that in the purest sense of the word, this is a mechanism for elevating something into orbit, considering that it would be straight up.
...aaaaand then they investigate you because of your "sympathetic and devious knowledge" or somesuch about how one would go about childporning and not get caught.
Although the government of today (In England) is a progressive bureaucratic creeping state of regulation and control, V for Vendetta makes the evil government a Christian Dictatorship? Yeah...that's a believable outcome.
Because it's utterly impossible the U.K. gov't in the future could ever turn into that. What?

Canada is bigger than 5 average state populations combined.
at least six major cultural groups within Canada
So basically, it's California.
Boe! Face of Boe!

Be honest--you didn't read the user agreement in the first place. Not that I don't sympathize.
If you land *wrong*, will you feel a thing either? Well, for values of wrong e.g. > 80mph, let's say?
Yeah, assuming there's only one or I'm looking at the right one, it looked to me like a nearly perfect semicircle.
Daytime temperatures will average a balmy 800C (1,472F)
Because 800C is of course precise to the degree...try 1500F instead.
The plural of "Jedi" is "Jedi," not "Jedis."
Thank you.
Because the point of religions usually isn't "real-world" (i.e., "here-and-now") gain to begin with? One word: Afterlife.
genuinely had all the powers
Except, y'know, the 2 things that people would actually *want* from it, namely The Force and a working lightsaber.
And please don't say you're talking hypothetically because you used "will" earlier in the sentence.
Yeah, sounds like the perfect circumstance for one of those journalistic-convention-things in the newspaper where the most important details are in the first paragraph.
Sadly I have no mod points at the moment.

So it's "lazy" to turn your head? If you're switching lanes, you should be doing an actual over-the-shoulder check anyway.
Crap...posted before reading the last paragraph so mostly redundant. Dur...

I've been looking through the comments and so far I haven't found anybody making jokes about the KObayashi Maru either!
So...um...something about the elevator being impossible to construct, I guess. Or you get stuck halfway up.
Could it be considered a "live shoot" because they were using "live", i.e. not dummy, ammunition?
If you wanted to be able to take the ship into an atmosphere, though, the streamlining would probably be helpful.
Maybe they the whole thing?

Good points, but the "related activities" and "artistic merit" is precisely the ambiguities being used to enforce all this shite in the first place.

(though the rest of your points seem salient)
I've already seen it a number of times; how about you just tell me what I'm supposed to be laughing at instead.
