No, not every authoritarian supports Obama. But every Obama supporter is an authoritarian. Obama's policies are authoritarian, and if you support Obama you support his policies. If you support authoritarian policies, you are an authoritarian. QED.
So you will never find the latest version of softwares (CentOS 5.9 has PHP 5.1.6, apache 2.2.3 etc), but instead you get more stable version and, specially, no API changes.
Why do people insist on re-inventing the wheel when it comes to portable consoles.
Name one wheel this reinvents. If one exists, I'll buy it today.
Who is going to carry a 1ghz, 512MB 320x240 Linux console when their phone already has a quad-core ARM, 1-2GB RAM, gigabytes of storage and a high rez screen?
I don't have a phone and don't want one. But I sure as hell want a portable Linux PC with solid gaming controls on which I can run any emulator I want.
Just because its open source doesn't mean much at all unless it can compete with iOS and Android phones on a hardware level AND make calls
Why do you want a gaming handheld to make calls? Sounds like you're the one with no clue.
I think its a great project. The kickstarter is... a smidge steep IMO. for $135 you ought to get a console for sure - not "a shot" at a console. Not sure if this is just poor wording or what.
It's how kickstarter works. You don't get anything if they don't meet their goal. You don't give anything either.
I would love to buy Jeff Minter games, but he doesn't publish them on any acceptable platform. Paying the Apple tax for a device I don't fully control is a complete deal breaker. If Yak wants my money, he can publish on a decent platform. Say, the C64.
It's the best specced product in its class. Yes, it might be less powerful than an android tablet from 2 years ago. But that android tablet doesn't have gaming controls. This is for people who liked the Dingoo A320, but want something better. This is for people who wanted a Pandora, but couldn't afford one. This is for people who would rather replay Master of Magic on the go than whatever Nintendo or Sony are hyping today.
The referenced study is very limited (only addresses moderately depressed people, only SSRIs.) That's not where antidepressants are most important.
But that is where most antidepressants are prescribed.
Calling all of psychiatry a scam because some popular methods are flawed, is a far worse error than your accusation against psychiatry.
I didn't. I said psychiatry for depression is almost entirely a scam. Most depressive patients take antidepressants and experience almost no benefit from them.
Like a lot of medicine, it doesn't work as well as we'd like, but it's much better than anything else out there.
Placebo controlled studies show that it doesn't actually work at all in the vast majority of cases.
My criticisms of psychiatry are in no way intended to be construed as support for Scientology.
If you fool yourself into believing your scam is real, it's still a scam. See also, religion. And my "one paper" is one paper that analyses the entirety of all existing data on the topic. SSRIs don't work, and if psychiatrists don't know this, then they're still committing fraud by claiming to be experts.
For the record, the psychiatrist I saw knew about this paper, had no scientific objections to the paper or its conclusions, and still tried to give me SSRIs for an HRSD of 14. I asked her how she could justify that, and she said 95% of patients in her clinic that took SSRIs improved. As if the placebo effect, confirmation bias, self selection by the patients, etc. simply didn't exist. It's possible I got an incompetent one, but the university hospital here is pretty good so I doubt it.
So ultimately there may be an expectation that it goes like this;
Petition: N of us think that given fact X and logic Y, marijuana should be legalised. Current party: You know that makes a lot of sense, and you have a lot of support, we'll reverse our longheld policy.
That's not what anyone expected. But we could at least get an honest answer to an honest question. What are the reasons that Obama thinks marijuana should not be regulated like alcohol? That was the question posed, and it was completely evaded.
Those were mistakes, but they were well meaning mistakes that he didn't have to die for. The prosecutors made mistakes too, and they were far less well meaning.
The White House itself demonstrated that the petitions were worthless long before any sarcastic petition got approved. 75,000 people asked why Cannabis could not be regulated like alcohol. The White House had the drug czar, who is statutorily prohibited from advocating for drug law reform, respond. He failed to mention alcohol once.
If the White House won't treat our petitions with respect, why should we treat their petition site with respect?
Effectiveness being a weasel word. Effective based on what criteria?
Obviously those criteria should be set out in the law itself. Every law should have a goal, and specify a way for evaluating progress towards that goal.
Ummm, yes.

I wish these guys weren't so creepy. I find it so hard to support them when they make my skin crawl.
Who, the US DOJ? They make my skin crawl too.
Anyone who still supports Obama is a full fledged authoritarian.
We don't live in a democracy. We don't even live in a democratic republic anymore.
So you will never find the latest version of softwares (CentOS 5.9 has PHP 5.1.6, apache 2.2.3 etc), but instead you get more stable version and, specially, no API changes.
So it's like Debian Stable then?

How does it surpass Debian?
The only way to become a congressperson is to sell out to the very interests you seek to destroy by becoming a congress person.

Charging people with felonies when the victim said "no dude, it's cool, no harm no foul" shows a stunning lack of discretion.
You forget. This is the USA, the land of the free. Where people go to prison for years for crimes that have no victim at all.

Freedom of the internet, and information in general, is in no way something this, or any administration is interested in.
This administration is not interested in Freedom in general either.
Aaron Swartz made two big mistakes.
Those were mistakes, but they were well meaning mistakes that he didn't have to die for. The prosecutors made mistakes too, and they were far less well meaning.
You're a sick motherfucker eldavojohn. If it weren't for those prosecutors, Swartz would be here today. They are 100% repsonsible for his death.
I have never been a scientologist. They are a scam and a cult, just like every other religion.

The White House started it by submitting nonsense petition responses.
That just means the rest of the world isn't as smart as we hoped it was.
Why is compromising with people who are demonstrably wrong a desirable feature?
Effectiveness being a weasel word. Effective based on what criteria?
