Microsoft was convicted of committing monopolization in the PC arena. During the time frame of their illegal activity they surely submitted patents with ill gained money or people or knowledge. I think Motorola should bring this up in court. Its like a bank robber taking the stolen money and investing it. The bank robber gets caught and convicted... and spends some time on parole then ends up keeping all its ill gained investments along with interest. That this not right. The money and property obtained by a criminal activity should be taken away from the criminal. Plus, as part of the settlement with the US government Microsoft was required to open some of its application interfaces to competitors. That part may have been done to some degree, but more likely the argument could be made that Microsoft is capitalizing off of illegal behavior from the past and its settlement doesn't didn't go far enough.
I have been hearing about the first to apply rule. If patent reform includes such a rule change these new patent applications to inventions by others will have beat the owners of ideas in the race to patent, plus it allows free grab of anything left unpatented.
Bush says we don't torture.. and we did. so its not a backdoor... its ah... a peephole.... or something. and ya Microsoft didn't put it in.... cause then some employees there would know too much and have to be... ehmmm rebooted. Instead they allowed the peephole to be put in. And they can honest say they didn't do it, nor do they know anything about it... its not torture... I mean a backdoor cause the defination of that is nothing that anyone else would think it means. No matter... I'm a Mac.
yes so true. MS doesn't mind coming out with a weak product... It makes current Vendors feel safe... they mock it. But little by little the MS product takes over... usually not because its better, but rather its free or bundled or way cheaper. But... then MS did create the Virus protection industry by creating such a crapy OS.
little bit here. little bit there. pretty soon its aggregated and sold to others who do more combining. privacy, once lost is never regainable. And those who collect the pieces don't care if they get some pieces wrong. Microsoft sold its soul long ago. Never trust or believe Microsoft words or products. At least Google doesn't own the OS. And thank goodness for Mozilla and Opera.
Microsoft the convicted monopolist must of acquired many patents during its illegal monopoly period (not that it ever stopped). I mean how many times does the bank robber get caught, get convicted and get to keep the money. Some smart lawyers need to dig through how much of these patents were illegally obtained and invalidate them. A very good question to ask your congress person too.
All the politicians and players in this garbage dump overloading fiasco deserve to have their driveways, front lawns and office spaces filled with discarded TV's. Fully functional but worthless. Toxic waste created in the name of progress. I have 5 televisions... how about you ? Will you be paying disposal fees or will the government ? No matter it will all end up back in our eco system as toxic waste.
I like to read in the bath-tub. Obviously overly big books are to heavy to read this way. This book is sized well. I made it through the first two chapters in todays soak. Course its not just size... the book has to hold my interest too. Found it on the shelf at my local BN. So far, so good... recommended. Soap optional.
It is a big deal. Your either for Linux or Against it. This money is used against Linux... I would rather see this company pack its bags and load up on Windows 2003.
I just bought and downloaded my first two songs. Each one is a poke in the eye to mr Gates. I'm running Windows XP and I hate every thing it stands for. Revenge comes in 99 cents purchases. And now with a growing collection of songs... I'm just going to have to go out and buy and Ipod. And Itunes is running just fine on my Wincrap...
Wait lets not forget those middle schoolers. I know they download music too. But how to jail kids under 16. Disney Jails of course. With a special school in jail teaching all about the evils of downloaded music. I call it Disney Jail. Smaller cells for smaller minds. Jailers/teachers dressed in big eared mouse costumes. Special areas for kindergarden and preschool. Punish them while they're young. Better yet pre-crime... jail them before they do... cause you know they will.
Another approach is to inform the competion. Let the competors display SIGM dirty laundry. After all it is an illegal advantage. Google searching... maybe cirrus logic ? xilinx ? divio ? and inform partners... like metrolink. Perhaps they don't want to associated with such tactics...
Is there any lawyers who would take up the cause to support the GPL without requiring fees ??? Really the GPL needs lawyers, politicians and voters. This seems to be a good case to start out on. Where is those legal experts who want to support a noble cause???
After reading about this group and their new album I went to the store and bought a copy. I wish to support them for being progressive on making their album available for download. Well unfortunately the "enhanced cd" won't play on my computer. It does have a couple of quicktime movies I can see but the music can't be seen or heard. Plus it has links to the internet for a song with a video. Lucky me it plays on my dvd player (not in my computer). It doesn't tell me title info but I can move from song to song. So in the end the new album is being published but you can't play it on your computer... no do they care to mention that anywhere on the label. Whats a guy to do. Take it back ??? Perhaps I'm just not computer literate enough to play it right on my computer ??? I doubt it. Looks crippled to me. cd must mean crippled disk.
Take alook at the music industry like korg and tascam. They both offer pocketstudios and such that record sound to mpegs with uploads to pc's. Much more too. This is stuff for music creators but guess what, I would guess all this stuff will be illegal without alot of dumbing down, extra cost, and performance loss. The movie and music companies are stepping on the heads of those who create for them as well as those who buy their discs. Stupid. Hope our government isn't so stupid to see this.
like the bible says there will be no buying or selling without the mark. so where is the churches on this ? i consider government a religion minus prayer. Its easy to fore see the future you will have a unique signiture (identifier) you will sign and post your taxes with it you will do all transaction with it you will be tracked by it
Microsoft is a corporation. Microsoft isn't dead yet. Two big differences... between your example and my example.

Mr Obama is not making me happy. And I'm a Democrat. Can we offshore all the politicians ? They certainly don't care about Americans.

And once long ago abestos was marketed as another great improvement. Just when you thought lead paint was eliminated.... its BACK in BLACK.

I certainly would like a G5. Damn pretty and smokes too... but the dollar amount keeps it a dream.
