Ok, what's with the hostility here. I come from a windows background ok. Hell, I used to work for microsoft. Is it unreasonable to assume that a file supposedly containing a screenshot is an image format? This kind of unix wookie elitism is what turns a lot of people off of adopting linux. It's cute, but it's not much good when the OS doesn't support SMP and as a result the only application that can take advantage of multiple procs is photoshop. What'd be much nicer than a dual g4 would be a dual k7 since the k7's got an essentially equivalent fp unit, adequate SIMD extensions, twice the clock speed, has better vid card support and isn't crippled by MacOS 9. --Shoeboy
Ah yes, but what about encoding multiple mpeg-2, realvideo, quicktime and microsoft media player streams simultaneously. Doing that in realtime will tax most processors. Sometimes you want multiple processors with SIMD on each one. Don't write off special purpose hardware. Dedicated encoding boards similar to this exist, and they've got a huge advantage over using a general purpose computer. --Shoeboy

I have the Anti-Christ interface on my box. All buttons are in the shape of inverted pentagrams. The user interface is best described as non-euclidean madness that appears to emanate from somewhere behind the screen. The context sensitive help contains passages from the necronomicon and the tech support number appears to be manned by crazed minions of Nyarlathotep.
It's not terribly usable, but the increase in speed now that I've started mousing and typing with the tentacles growing out of my face more than makes up for the lack of a consistent desktop metaphor.
