Game GUI != System GUI. The system's GUI will have little effect on the games you play on it.
For me console GUI will mean nothing as I don't really do anything with my consoles besides play games. Then again I won't be getting an XBox 360 anytime soon due to the lack of any games worth buying a system for.:)
If someone sends you a fake statement with all of your information on it, including transactions and such, it is a bit late to be worried about someone getting into your bank account, now isn't it.:p
If I hit the "I'm feeling lucky" button looking for online poker and ended up at a picture of some guy trying to suck his own cock (which is what is on the wikipedia site at the time) i dont think i'd hit that button ever again... much less visit wikipedia:p
Video game ringtones are great. I have Super Mario Bros, Zelda (overworld), Castlevania (opening level), Final Fantasy battle music, and Dr. Wily's stage on Megaman 2. They please me.
You're right. Having to mess around with extended/expanded memory was a large PITA, but I still did it to play b/c I had to. Problem is now we don't have to, so taking a step backwards in ease of installation/use isn't going to be the first thing on most game developers minds.:)
Either way... Windows is where the cash is. Games cost money to make so it's unlikely many people will make games w/ Linux in mind. I just don't see Linux having much influence on gaming anytime really. PC Gamers are Windows users.
Nowadays "normal" kids use AOL Instant Messenger...
And personally I dont really care if I'm different or not. I don't think it really matters all that much.
I've always considered myself normal, though I did spent countless hours in front of the computer coding/BBSing during my childhood. (started with a stupid language called PILOT on my Atari)
"geek" is far too general of a term to mean anything really. Some might call me a "geek" b/c of my obsession with computers. Others might not consider me worthy to be a "geek" b/c I actually went outside and played sports with my friends.
I've got an ISDN connection at work and the damn thing still loads slowly. I hate it when I see interesting articles on UK servers... they are always so much slower (being that I'm in the US).
Not everyone cares about Sony "stripping our rights" as you say. Companies are around to make a profit. If someone or something threatens that profit (or a potential to make more profit) they are going to do whatever it takes to stop that.
Duh... that isnt news, it's been happening for quite some time.
Also, five years is a very long time for any type of electronic product. Why buy a TV or VCR or anything now when you can get a better one for the same price or less in five years?
Just wondering if most of the info on FreeDB is actually correct.
I've put in CDs and had them lookup CDDB and come back with people's handles and URLs as Album names. Or something even more annoying is people labeling track names with the track number in them (ex: 01.song 1, 02.song 2). Talk about annoying...
This is the main problem when you let anybody submit data. The data is only as accurate as the people submitting it...
Nice idea and all but I do believe record contracts prohibit doing that. If Metallica wants to release something they cant do it behind their record companies back (breach of contract). Plus, these guys have plenty of money. They are still gonna sell cds. There is no reason for them to bother with this...
It's not like we actually have a choice. It's either buy with little warranty, buy the overpriced extended warranty, or don't buy at all.

If you think the story and character is the reason the game sells so much I'd like some of whatever you're on.

Anyone who uses Google to search for their bank instead of getting the URL from their bank statement needs to be taught better.
Users need to be a lot less trusting of things online, especially if its the result of a search.

I'm glad people understand sarcasm.

Hell, Macs arent difficult to use...
If anyone installed AOL on my computer I'd be forced to kill them...

Funny I thought it was News for Nerds not News for Linux users...

If fans from bands people didnt like were banned there would be no one left... that would make napster "legal" though, although not very popular.
