They feel they are protecting the very thing that you feel they are destroying. The question is, which is more tolerable to most people, and it sounds like most people don't give a damn about the spying, but don't want small incidents like 9-11 to happen every 100 years.

Perhaps they are owned by the bomb squad and used to x-ray bombs to determine how to proceed? Until they get back to the FOIA request, none of us know.
