How about you refute anything he said, as at the time I saw the same comments about RTGs from many on the Philae stories on Slashdot.
The size/weight of the batteries+solar would have been better put into RTG, as it would produce the same power without worrying about the sun being visible. It is a learning experience for ESA, hopefully they take the lessons learned into account on the next probe.
RTGs are deigned that even in the event of a rocket breakup (the rocket makes a big boom), or reentry (blast furnace for 30 or so seconds), that the RTG will not breach, and will frankly land (hit the ground pretty damn hard) without any possibility of damage. You are more likely to die from getting hit by the thing than any possibility of radiation from the thing, unless you disassemble it.
If a VPN really is faster, then Netflix clearly has access to unused capacity via other routes that they're not providing to customers. That is, the VPN is just doing the routing that Netflix isn't doing.
Netflix owns/runs 0 networks, so they don't set routes. L3 and VZ set routes. The VPN only bypasses routes set by VZ, and any traffic inspection/interference that VA has setup, as they can't inspect packets inside of a VPN. Packet Inspection is now essentially not allowed according to the FCC, as well as intentionally degrading connections to specific providers (Hulu has no issues on Verizon's network, nor does Verizon's own services, and HBO's streaming service.). Verizon is intentionally degrading a specific provider of a service over other providers of the same class of service.
In the Verizon article, they specifically state that when a VPN is active, they get 10x the throughput to Netflix. How is that not proving that VZ was intentionally throttling the connection to unusable levels?
That is absurd. Why have two concentric opposite rotating roundabouts? Why have the sub roundabouts? Why not just have one roundabout, it would do the same thing...?
This guy named Hitler tried, but no one wanted his kind of peace. As long as people/countries get to make their own decisions, there will never be world peace. When I can force you to stop fighting your neighbor over the lawnmower, then there will be peace.
In Puerto Rico, it comes down to taxes. Currently, they get all the benefits of paying federal taxes (infrastructure, military, etc), but they don't pay federal income tax. If they become a state, they have to start paying income taxes.
It seems that many of those statements are possibly true, but are so chopped down it is very hard to even tell, looking through without even checking any I see:
SARAH PALIN Says Attorney General Eric Holder recently revealed "this idea to have government have gun owners wear special bracelets that would identify you as a gun owner."
Or do you have some kind of proof he didn't say that to the house committee? He was talking about requiring guns to have fingerprint readers (which are terrible if you have ever actually used one) or bracelets so that they would only fire for the authorized user. How was she lying?
That is just from me reading through, I spent maybe 5 minutes working on this.
Now, however, this does not in any way show her being dumb, it shows her exaggerating and possibly lying. I asked for dumb, not lies, which is what politicians do, or did you get to keep your health plan?
Examples of abuses this is to prevent in the future?
First, Comcast throttles Netflix as it competes with their own services, Netflix then is forced into paying Comcast for a connection (rather than their hosted proxies that worked for years): http://qz.com/256586/the-insid...
Then Verizon decides to hop on the bandwagon, Netflix is forced into buying a connection from Verizon too, then Verizon is still throttling them: http://www.extremetech.com/com...
Netflix pays for internet access already (through L3 I believe) I requested them to send me traffic, and I am on Verizon. Verizon has NO right to throttle traffic that I as a customer of theirs has requested. The throttling was so bad, I wasn't even able to play 320P video over my 75Mbit symmetric connection. They did the same thing to Youtube, constant buffering breaks in videos.
This is not what the internet is supposed to be, I pay for a huge pipe, I should not be punished for trying to use 1/10 of it to watch a video.
So, you are calling the DoD liars in that article I posted? They claim to have found the WMD, but I guess you and the media links you provide must know better than the solders on the ground. Are you also then claiming that the NY Times is lying? That the specific details given in the Times article are somehow fabricated?
Do you have a mental disorder? At this point it seems you are just sticking to the lie hoping to make the US look bad instead of seeing the truth that there were chemical weapons in Iraq, they were found by the military and dealt with. But I guess that doesn't fit your narrative.
At the top of the comment section, there are two sliders. The left slider is which posts are fully expanded, the right slider is which posts are completely hidden. You have to slide them both fully right if you want to see all posts.
I presume you are talking about Katrina. I don't believe Sandy qualified as a super-hurricane, so I don't think you are talking about that.
Hurricanes have been getting that strong forever, it was lack of planning in both of those cases that caused the majority of the problems. Hurricanes are normal when the Earth isn't an iceball, they are not supposed to be stronger, but more numerous as the Earth gets warmer, but funny thing, it didn't actually happen. The qty has gone down slightly since we started tracking them with satellites, not up.
New Orleans should have never been rebuilt, building a city below sea level and relying on levees to hold back the ocean isn't a great idea. Sandy smacked an ocean city, had the houses been built on stilts like in the Outer Banks, likely there would have been far less damage. Houses on the ocean are pretty likely to get knocked down often enough as it is.
The hyperbole is on the other side of the debate just as much. Have you seen the idiot who say global warming will lead to our extinction? This has never been said by the scientists, it isn't true. The worst predictions show a 1 foot or so rise in ocean levels and increased arable land. The end of the world is not in the next 50 years...unless a meteor is on a collision course...
I just don't understand environmentalists who are also anti-nuclear.
Radiation is scary! It is caused by the same anti science mentality. They fail to understand how incredibly safe nuclear power is. It is the same problem with the people who believe gun violence is rising, they don't understand that statistically all violence has dropped tremendously in the past 20 years.
How about we remove all the taxes on the output of oil as well, we might as well make it fair. Oh, and if we remove subsidies from oil, why are we leaving the very large subsidies that are already on renewables?
I will support people's rights to own guns to the day I die, but personally, I don't own a gun. I prefer to not have guns in my house while my kids are going through puberty (and while they were too young). Maybe one day I will own one, but I prefer to keep the means away from my kids. If they get really depressed, or really homicidal, they will have to use cruder tools which will make them think about what they are doing.
How are we fucked? Everything I have read is at most 1 foot (1/3 m?) of sea level rise. This will not be a problem for most areas of the world, only very low lying islands. In fact, climate change is thought to increase arable land considerably, giving us more food growing area.
Please, tell us how exactly the human race is fucked, and show your citations (to science, not internet group think sites).

Holy shit was what happened when Jesus visited the privys.
Most impressive.

It will never work, US politicians are too far from sanity to build an effective bridge. Perhaps we could build some ferries though.

I think some mods are missing their sense of humor. At least I hope you were completely joking...
If instead Reddit was saying that they would ban all homosexual users, would you then see what is wrong with it?

NOAA's satellites show no warming, was that because they were switched from ship based to buoy based as well?
