    Hmm, that is interesting. Can any farmer really be called poor? A successful harvest year can bring in millions of dollars in a single year, do we really need to subsidise their internet connection when they make more in a year than most "small businesses"?

    Now, show me examples of Android malware available on the official app store, that doesn't require developer mode being enabled (like jailbreaking for android, but built in), and isn't a parental control app (which I would exclude as well...we aren't talking about apps designed to be used by the user this way).

    Ok, your point would be? All of the Android malware you read about requires intentional side loading of other app stores, which is pretty much exactly the same thing you just said about the iPhone...amazing..

    When malware is found in the Google app store, it is nuked. Very rarely does it ever make it onto people's phones, but let's hold Google accountable for every exploit, but totally ignore that Apple has the same problem yet again!

    It looks like you still didn't read (or listen to) what he said, you just continue to read the news organization's interpretations of what he said. Just like the all mexicans are rapists comment, the media is misrepresenting what he said, and that is all you are willing to learn about it.

    You are choosing to remain ignorant, and I will bet you are one of those who calls republicans ignorant and racist, while you prefer to be ignorant on your own and just lap up what the news organizations write for you.

    If you want to see an example of the US government running socialized medicine, you don't have to look any farther than the VA scandals. People dying on waiting lists while money sits in the budget for more doctors. Do you really think that socialized medicine in the US could work any better than the already socialized care for our military?

    Why? Missiles and airplanes are made out of mostly aluminum. Why would you use a different laser for aircraft as missiles?

    Now, A2G lasers would be different as they have to point mostly down, but that just means you have a top (or forward) and bottom aiming assembly, they could still use the same laser and electronics.

    So, the steel on the plane is 10m thick? That is a heavy plane.

    Let alone that planes are made out of aluminum skins, which according to another poster above is 3x easier to cut than steel, so it will cut through 30m of aluminum at the power to get through the atmosphere.

    It happened to us Americans as well...when the paper tray ran out of paper. Likely this happened more often than a European trying to print a document that was sized wrong.

    Perhaps if a civics course were required before running for president as well. It seems that none of the presidential candidates actually know what powers the president holds before being elected and finding out how much power they hold as president.

    I find it especially funny that Obama is a constitutional scholar, and even he didn't understand how little power the president holds.

    Passing a civics course should also be a prerequisite to be able to vote as well, but then again, since landowners stopped being the only ones able to vote, everything has gone down hill anyways.

    The 747 doesn't need to carry the fuel production equipment. Also, there is quite a bit of unused land in every airport, why not just use solar power derived fuels?

    The Navy has been developing water derived jet fuel for quite a while, it isn't impossible. If you use solar power to produce the fuel, doesn't that mean that the 747 is entirely solar powered?

    That is ok, you are obviously and childishly biased for Apple, so it all balances out. I gave my reasoning behind what I said, you just insulted me, that is the difference between a zealot, and someone who actually looks at things from a neutral standpoint. I have supported (as an IT person) all of Apple's products, and no, the Apple TV is nothing special when put up against a Tivo, or even the old Android TVs, which can still be bought, so no, not discontinued.

    The difference is, Android made the jump from a device, to part of the tv. Most of the smart TVs are Android, you don't see Apple TV being built into TVs, do you?

    My background isn't the intricate details of biology, but on /., there is someone who knows exactly how these systems work. I asked a question, and got an answer, isn't that the basis of how intelligent conversations work?

  23. There is a distinction. A patent troll makes no products. They just use patents to extract money from companies actually building things. What this means is, they have no product to go after, you have to attack the patent, which might be for a key part of the cellular system for instance.

    So, in this case, Google is teaming up with a patent troll to go after a company that isn't a patent troll (or else they couldn't go after them).
