    Just guessing, but could it be for automatic interpolating of values between table's elements? register's article mentioned something about this thing bing DX8 specific, so it must be already in use somewhere. Still i can't imagine this but to be something of a cludge.
    It's difficult to see nVidia be involved in something cludgy, must've been something of MS:s work.

    What you're really saying is that you feel you have a right to control the distribution of their code as well as yours. Now that's fine, if that's what you want, and there are certainly valid arguments for using the GPL in that case, but don't pretend it has anything to do with companies `closing' your source -- only you can do that.

    I think that GPL is meant to be used for applications which will not be changed 'a lot'. When your code will eventually form only a tiny portion of total codebase, you should use LGPL.
    As another poster said, this will not guarantee returnal of the code (internal binary use..), but this surely encourages it.
    I'd like to know how much MS (isn't this a single biggest company using BSD code?) has contributed back to 'community'. Is there a single mention in changelogs 'merge with Microsoft'?
    Not that they changed so much of 'telnet' that there's huge piles of their IP in that code.

    I think you don't understand.
    To be 'truely' free you should use BSD license. It basically gives your code away.
    Those of us who use GPL do it to get back some fruits of our hands. I WANT that any of my modified code will come back to me.
    I think BSD people are very generous, but I personally don't think I could just give my work away the way they do.

    After this all is done, I correct code with my notes, and begin it all over again.
    With this use, actual compiling is not slow if it takes 3-5 mins.

    Here's a very simple formula you must learn:
    programmer/geek != artistic talent
    Just so you don't think I am all negative. There were a few very nicely done themes, but the majority are utter crap or a clone with the basic colour changed.

    In one word: Bull!

    I for one don't always use themes to make things 'candy'. They are my primary way to customize my desktop to make what I want to do. If I find that I use some functionality of WM, I add it as a button to toolbar, If I find something annoying, I remove it. If I find that my eyes become restless with colors, I change them to less annoying.
    So repeat after me: Themeing is not only eyecandy, and programmer/geek can design WAY more functional theme than any s.c. artist.
