In the quiet words of Virgin Mary... come again? You might wanna read this list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L... That, to start with. Of course, if "lately" doesn't mean "last 6 months" or something like that.
When many other people get flat-out killed in too-many-to-count conflicts all around the world, you'd think this is a big story? To me, a death is bigger than an imprisonment, regardless of person. The idea of "celebrity" is artificial, as far as I'm concerned.
To have laws is one thing. To apply them... well, that's a different thing. Some countries are almost purely reactive, meaning that if it hasn't happened, they don't give a shit.
I am a fatalist. I think that if it's big, the building I live would still collapse and living on the 8th floor (out of 10) won't save me no matter what I do.
Let me explain to you as I would do to my 2 year old son. If we have an argument and you give me an apple, and I give you an apple to settle, who wins? NOBODY. DOH!
Say my manager is from the USA (he was, for about 3 years, now I have another manager who's from Denmark). I live in Eastern Europe. My manager gives me a project. I, working in Eastern Europe, do the heavy lifting. My manager sits on his ass and asks "are we there yet?" every day, because it's all he's able to do. When work is finished, who's actually making the profit? With hardware, it's relatively easy. The product is build *here* so the profit is registered *here*. But with software... it's basically "whatever's more advantageous for the company". Which ain't that bad either. Competition is competition, even tax-wise. If government A has a tax of 1% and government B has a tax of 50%, what would YOU do, as a company? The main reason why government A has a tax of 1% is to attract money which otherwise would go to government B. Microsoft's simply taking the best of all worlds, so to speak. Any individual or company would do the same, unless they're pure-breed, brainwashed nationalists... or clueless as to how finance works.
1. Not a hate speech. I don't hate USA, not at all. 2. I don't read tabloids. If this story was posted on/. and came from a tabloid, I expected better and I'm sorry for/. 3. Who says I'm a nationalist, let alone bigot? I hate my countrymen because they're retarded, but in other areas.
Err, excuse me - if Oracle are the contractor its up to THEM to manage the fecking project.
If they're left to do so, yes. I suspect they weren't, not fully. there was constant meddling and scope change and feature creep and "wait, we have THIS data too" shit being flung around like there's no tomorrow.
Usually when you hire a big company like Oracle you give them the requirements, pay them money and they're supposed to deliver the goods
Absolutely correct. In theory. In practice, I'm yet to see a project involving multiple people which goes through its lifecycle like theory says it should. No wonder most wildly successful projects are being handled by a one-man team.
I wonder what are the odds they used some cheap indian labour who can just about switch on a computer much less deliver a working program. Sorry if some people find that racist, but indian coders in my experience are universally bloody useless.
Fairly small. They used mixed teams, which is actually worse because of constant culture clashes.
Would you say he'd be safer because the story appeared on Slashdot? Come on...

Hey, no, this story has the following buzzwords:
Kernel
Ukraine
Russian
Invasion
Guaranteed to bring page views. And you, you... inconsiderate clod, you think it's not a relevant story? Bah! Many buzzwords disagree with you!
Some good use for Graphene! ...in theory.
Monsieur Ventillatoin disagrees.
Antec P182 - I have it, there's almost no heat coming from the top of the PSU, and guess where does the PSU reside?
Makes TOTAL sense :)
Now all you need is find a spaceship that could achieve this...
To have laws is one thing. To apply them... well, that's a different thing.

NOBODY.
DOH!
Some people don't get jokes.
Or the math behind the jokes.
Oh well.
I am entitled to have some fun every now and then :)
I seriously doubt that would work.
You bastard, you're wrong!!!
I suck dicks for free.
Globalization is interesting.

It's called "ad hominem" and the Internet is full of it.
Then they should be audited and fucked in the ass. Still, the article has no point.

Oh we have our fair share of retarded stuff happening, but punishing teenagers for writing stupid shit clearly ain't it.
Only in 'Murica.
Here' if a 16-year old writes something like that, everyone would have a good laugh.

They should both pay each other 100M and be done with it!
Big words appeared in your post "early one".
