“I’m gratified that the motion was denied. It was based on gross misstatements of fact. I would have preferred for the judge’s language to be stronger. But the result is the same,” Beckerman said during a brief telephone interview.
I see. So in layman's terms, "gross misstatements of fact" means - "Liar, liar, pants on fire!"
I would think that the gambling companies wouldn't be named "Joe's Online Gambling". If anything, they're named things like "Tabcorp Holdings Limited". So, the HR folks won't see it off the bat, anyway.
The job description is going to be something like, "Designed and developed Swing interface. Developed probability engine for calculating permutations and combinations."
The gambling industry, especially the electronic slot machines is pretty impressive firmware. I'd be bragging about it myself.
Writing adult websites, on the other hand, I I would stick to being as vague as possible.
After the proletarian revolt, all the women kill most of the men in their sleep. They go off and create the solar/hydrogen economy that the grandparent mentioned, creating a solar Amazonian paradise. Where are the men that are left? Well, they keep small villages of them where the men sit around and drink beer and watch Spike TV all day. Then when the women are ready to mate, they have a champion from each village fight one another to the death. Then said champion mates with all the Amazons that want to have a child. After which, he is torn from limb from limb in a Baccean orgy - still alive and conscious.
For pleasure of course, the women are really lesbians and the men aren't allowed to watch.
See what your proletarian revolt leads to! Female happiness!
Gay? No. I don't think we were happy about it, either. For one thing, when trying to connect to a wireless network via the wireless controls, the "Connect" button stays grayed out. WTF?!?! You have to connect via the regular networking software to get it to connect. There are some good things here and there but not gay about it.
Speaking as an MBA, their unsubstantiated numbers and pretty graphs is good enough for me. I'm going to delete 41% of the software on my machines to make sure I'm not a crook!
Damn! You're one hell of an AI student! What language were you written in? Java? So one more year and you're a full blown AI? Am I asking too fast for your CPU to keep up? I'll wait....
I used to hump ass at work, go home an code something that I wanted to do, although there were other things I wanted to do more. I would redesign things and do proof of concept stuff and all that. No one gave a shit. When I go on a job interview you know what folks ask? "What did you do on your job?" They don't care what you do in your off-hours: they want to know what your job was.
Looking back at all that time I spent coding outside projects, I just can't help but regret it. I missed out on social time - not only girls but networking. All the guys that got the really well paying jobs weren't necessarily the most talented, but the ones that have the social network. They built their network by: playing D&D, playing soccer (football), going out with people from other professions, etc... I don't think any of them coded outside of work. Many times, the next opportunity is from someone who is not in IT. That accountant you're playing tennis with brings up the fact that his company is looking for a guy to write some code to do something. He's not sure, but he has his boss give you a call. Notice there's nothing there about recruiters, sending resumes to the black holes of: Monster, Computer Jobs, Career Builder, Dice, etc...
Oddly our brokerage (Interactive Brokers) does not allow you to log in over the weekend.
To keep you from putting in that code that front runs trades? After about a year of working 13 hour days!?! I would want to do whatever it took so that I wouldn't have to work ever again.
GTK doesn't have the well written documentation that Qt has. The build environment is overly complicated. It took me a few hours hunting down dependencies to get a damn hello world gui program to work.. They have the includes all over the place. And there was a bunch more. Glade isn't intuitive at all. A gui is loaded real time from an xml file - I'm not so sure I like that implementation. I gave up on Gtk. And, isn't it really a C framework with a C++ front end?
Yeah. Visit a website with an applet and you get the JVM startup and it stays up and running even after you leave the website and visit websites that don't have applets. In other words, I probably wouldn't notice at first either and I'd be chugging along until I restarted my machine and saw the JVM pop-up again for no apparent reason. Other folks who have no idea wtf a JVM is would never notice.
Ahhhh. Wait till they talk local governments to pass laws banning home brewing because of "public safety". Think it won't happen?
It's hasn't been reported in the media, but a couple of years ago - maybe even now - the local (California) cooking oil/grease collectors were trying to stop the bio-diesel folks from collecting the old frying oil. Why? The bio-diesel guys would haul it away for free; whereas, these companies charged to take away the old oil. The bio-diesel guys offered a win/win for the restaurants: they took it away for free and as a result got free base material.
The local businesses that collected the oil where trying to talk the local politicians that for "public safety" only they should be allowed to collect the grease and if the bio-diesel guys wanted it, they'd have to pay for the old oil.
Many times, government regulations help businesses by keeping competitors from starting up.
Whatever they are doing with algae to get biofuel from it, its gotta be better than cutting down rainforrests to make environmentally friendly biofuel. Bring it on.
Cutting down rainforests?!? That's the first I've heard of that in relation to bio-fuel!
Personally, for a renewable green resource, I think we should use whale oil. It's natural. It's renewable. And the meat can go to feed hungry people in poor countries. It's the perfect fuel! We just need a program to start breeding whales. That will solve our green energy problems.
The other way to solve our energy/heating problem is to use natural renewable insulation. That's right, the fur of baby seals. We need to start breeding them. And their meat can be used to feed hungry people too!
Then there's all those soon to be fat poor people in third...developing countries. They'll need exercise so let's put them all on exercise bikes with generators! Let's get their lazy asses in gear! Then they can export their electricity and then they can get rich.
Mammalian life on this planet is our hope for our energy problems and food problems!
Then the company goes out of business and you lose everything; which, in this day and age, is more likely than a fire, I think. Or, cloud computing company says, "We're upgrading to a new system or we just feel like charging more to keep our "growth" up for Wall Street, you must now pay more: take it or take it because you can't leave."
I think the best solution would be apps and backup data on the cloud while the working data is local - in an open format like XML or something. So, if cloud company XZY goes out of business, at least you could write some scripts to retrieve the data from the local machine and convert it to another app.
That device could've been a lot more awesome with an electronic paper display. *switches attention back to e-book reader*
Maybe. Then again, they wouldn't have been able to sell it for $99.
*looks at the $500 in bank account not spent on an e-book reader*

Now, ask yourself, who are the people that live on the ocean and lakes? What kind of political power they have?
Sounds absurd? See "Windmills Ocean Massachusetts Kennedy Martha's Vineyard"
Big ugly industrial infrastructure that benefits society has a place: near poor people.
Showgirls.
Oh, to be a young college grad working in Vegas!
And prostitution is legal!

Marge has a really hot body! I really want to see her naked. The same goes for Lois Griffith! Quagmire does have great taste in cartoon chicks!

Didn't that throw up any red flags for ANYONE?
The company was probably named after someone's middle name. Like Austin _Danger_ Powers.
I'm sure it's no reflection on the software.

I didn't check my tags above. Oh well. It's past my bed time....
He received a Masters degree in telecommunications and civil engineering from the Royal Military Academy, Brussels, in 1984.
I have this image of him building the rest of the station with concrete. The slump test may not work so well in orbit.
What the hell does Mickey Mouse's dog have to do with it?
But most of its natural resources are in Asia.

It's no wonder people home-brew this stuff.

He's going to! That's why he got the Nobel - because he's going to bring peace! The Peace prize has become a futures prize.
