You mean like a legislation that passed in the French Parliament back in October 2006 that made it a crime punishable by fines and jail to write anything contrary to the "so-called Armenian Genocide"? I don't remember if the law actually passed the higher house.
That's gotta be a great European thing todo...
Disclaimer, I'm a Turkish-American citizen. And while I may not agree with a whole lot of things that either government does at times, believe me, Turkey is not that much worse when it comes to freedom of speech than any other "western" country. How soon do we forget the guy who didn't get allowed to board a plane in Australia when he had a t-shirt saying "Bush is the #1 terrorist" Is that free speech? Where do we draw the line?
For anyone that thinks Turkey is a non-western nation that doesn't belong in the EU, please goto Turkey, vacation there, you will come back with a much different prospective. The EU does not want Turkey to be a member and is just making demand after demand trying to stall the entrance talks. Most of the stuff they're asking for is downright ridiculous. Majority of people in Turks no longer want to be in the EU as they see they're not welcome there.
These two patches provide the framework for stopping kernel threads to
allow hotplug CPU. This one just adds kthread.c and kthread.h, next
one uses it.
Most importantly, adds a Monty Python quote to the kernel.
Haven't had a chance to pull in the source. Anyone know what this is?
That is funny. My younger sister was with the U.S. Navy at the time and she was abroad near Iraq. She said that their first name for the "war for iraqi freedom" was Operation Iraqi Liberation. They got rid of that idea when someone thought about the acronym:)
I have a myth setup, and I agree with other posts where they say its a bit pain to setup. But there are.deb's and even rpms for some distros.
I already had a decent computer Athlon 2400, and use that as my desktop/server machine. I don't have it on all the time, but I can easily, and would probably benefit from that acting as ssh/web server.
Anyway, if you have a decent enough machine already (read >= p3 1ghz) that you already have as a normal linux server, go and put myth on it. Then go and buy a nice little mini-itx case (the new morex cases are very pretty and quite tiny, cost is about $85) Add onto it a 1Ghz EpiaM nehemiah, for about $160, and 256 megs of PC2100 ram, for about $40, and you got yourself a nice looking pretty silent mythfrontend machine. For the software, I highly recommend minimyth from linpvr.org which lets you boot into a great mythfrontend over the lan. Notice, no hard drive necessary.
Other hardware you might need is a lirc compatible receiver/remote for the mythfrontend, and if you need to, a remote transmitter for your main myth box so it can change channels on a cable box if you are connected to a cable box. (Get a bttv based card for your main machine, the pvr-250, 350 cards just don't cut it driverwise, too many problems)
So if you have a machine that can act as a server already, and invest in a $40 tuner card. The total of everything can come out to $400

What a great combination...
I use my T68i phone to control xmms. It's awesome. The range is actually quite good. Got the usb bluetooth adapter for about $30 and it was a breeze(tm) to install the necessary modules/userland programs.
Back in the days of my Commodore 64, I had bought a copy of GeoWorks (I think that was the name) which was a graphics package. The instruction manual highly suggested that a mouse be used for drawing. Being 11 and all, I thought that was a ploy to get me to spend more money. So I opted to use the joystick I had already owned. Ever try painting with a joystick? (yes I know the thousand responses I can get for that question, but be adult about it:) )
I graduated from The Cooper Union and can say that the school did a lot to make sure we weren't just book smart engineers. Founded by Peter Cooper in 1859, Cooper Union also gives full tuition scholarships to all of its students in the art, architecture and engineering schools. (recently ranked the hardest school to get into by Princeton Review.(correction, now seems 3rd hardest)
While attending Cooper, many programs had started to make sure we graduated as more complete engineers. These optional programs focused on communication and leadership skills. I would highly recommend any interested school administrators to check out leap.cooper.edu to get an idea as to what we did at Cooper.
I'm sure I can talk for my fellow classmates who took the LEAP courses that what we learned in these programs were essetial in the real world.
After waiting for Outpost to send me one for 2 months, and trying every other store, I just simply went to circuitcity.com and signed up to their list to get an email once they had supplies.. A week later I had it..
Haven't had time to install Linux on it yet, but I think I'm waiting for dual boot. The machine is great under windoze though.
BUT BEWARE... Last weekend to conserve some battery, I used the ipaqclk (unsupported) to slow the cpu down. The battery completely drained after the warnings and when I hooked it up to the ac adapter, I began to almost cry as the machine booted up with everything completely wiped out. It was as if I had started it for the first time. Asking me for owner info and everything... SO THAT SUCKED.... BE CAREFUL AND KEEP BACKUPS...
I believe the analogy was drawn to the fact that a very rich person was going to open up a place of education that rivals ivy-league institutions, and make it available for free to those accepted. Peter Cooper founded the Cooper Union back in 1859 with the same idea. I am currently a senior electrical engineering student, and extremely grateful for Peter Cooper's vision. I think it's about time more institutions like The Cooper Union are realized.
