Yep, I built a Van de Graaff generator as well. It was the ugliest motherfarking thing you've ever seen in your life. The motor was an old drill, the collector was two metal mixing bowls inexpertly "welded" together with something akin to liquid nails. The base was made of 2x4s and plywood. It struggled mightily to even so much as run, and after a couple of minutes of effort, finally built up enough static charge to lift a piece of string that was taped to the side of the bowl.
Who cares? I do. If interoperability was a fact, Trillian would just be a great program instead of an absolute necessity. I'd love to be able to disconnect three of my four messaging services. And even the for-pay Trillian isn't perfect -- still doesn't support file xfer via Yahoo, etc.
So, would an infinite number of simple logical marble machines running for an infinite amount of time eventually produce the collected works of Shakespeare in binary?

Seriously, I can't believe I'm the first to think of the entertainment of running Wine in a wine bottle.
Actually, they're nearly infinitely more susceptible to ovarian cancers.

Why? Do you WANT to be President? That's just crazy talk.

A rarity indeed among geek culture...
