  1. Okay, I was just thinking.... on MP3.com Summit - The Music Revolution is Over · · Score: 1
Is it possible that the typical MP3 trader is having a negative effect on the pop charts? Just because we have better taste in music than those who can't figure out how to download the MP3?
I find it scary but I've been pondering it for a while.... While we download our Phish concert recordings, and latest releases from our real bands, is it possible that those pre-teens (who can't use a computer) are going out and buying the crap that we can't stand from the RIAA?
I find it scary..... Very Scary.... I just lost two of my favorite radio stations (One to the Country format, and the other to the stupid pop format), and the thought that MP3 trading could be a factor in those changes makes me shudder...

Could this be a case of ignorance taking precious share in the marketplace?

Of course it could be that intelligent people would rather spend their money on whole albums than singles.... But it still proves my point:
Stupid people rule the pop charts, and talent loses to the pretty faces.

  2. Three is best, unless...... on Fourth Indiana Jones Installment · · Score: 1
...maybe Lucas became tired of trilogies...

I don't know why though, cause everyone knows that the perfect movie series is three.

Look at Rocky I, III, and IV (I don't count II and V cause II was really a remake and V blew).
    Star Wars (the original Trilogy){die Jar-Jar}
and up until now, Indiana Jones....

Of course don't get me wrong, Jurasic Park II blew, and III will blow, but that was because they weren't planned.
Also, we don't know if the Matrix trilogy will continue to be good...

  3. Hope this doesn't end up like Canadian Health Care on National Broadband Access · · Score: 1
I'm not saying their system doesn't work, but it seems like half the country loves it, and the other half despises it...

I can just see the topics to come...

The Canadian internet access project is finished, the entire country has a working and free connection to the internet!

    Only to be followed by:

Canadian's all over the country are put on hold as the backbone becomes clogged with movie grabbers and pron!

Hell, it's happening already in some backbones and some sites, ever visit AdCritic.com about a year ago? You should see the blazing speed now.... Took me half an hour to download one commercial from the Ethernet connection at school...
And for those of you who really want to know what's going on in Canada's healthcare system, ask a doctor. They're the ones who really know what's working and what's not in the system.

Oh, and you probably voted for Davis and the Legislature which could've solved the problem before it started, but didn't cause it was an election year.....

Way to blame the problem on the wrong people.

Remember, energy was on it's way up LONG before January. Don't look to the Federal Government to fix a state power problem, look at the state that's supposed to increase demand.

Gaming has become so obsessed with AI and graphics and all the frills, that I'm getting really depressed about it.

I can't wait until the games get bloated with individual player skins, that it takes 2 DVD's to install. (Just so they look just like they do in real life with injuries and scars too!)

Can anyone guess what football game I've been playing most lately? Techmo Super Bowl.. NES style.

Because it's more fun to play than ll these new ones.... Pretty sad.

  8. Re:Look, this is silly. on Napster Helps RIAA Again; RIAA Still Ungrateful (Updated) · · Score: 1

Here's the problem with that though. Assuming Napster had an impact, there's no amount of market research that's going to get a 100% accurate prediction. 80%, sure, 90% yeah, 95% maybe, 98%+ grey at best.

Varying Accuracy is possible, but 1.8-3% error margin is considered extremely accurate. The Napster effect on total sales and revenue is well within any error margin that's gonna be made.

The biggest problem here is the fact that we heard 39% drop in revenue.... All the market research that the RIAA had DIDN'T produce that number, they used it for their PR purposes.

Remember: Yes, the RIAA isn't stupid. But this PR stunt is a way to make themselves the good guys in this lawsuit. They're looking for support BECAUSE of the lawsuit, not the other way around.

Both cartoons came out the same yearin the U.S. Neither one was particularlly a rip-off of the other in the sense, but they did have to compete with each other based on the fact that both cartoons featured characters that could alter their form.

1984 was (in my opinion) the greatest year in cartoons.

  12. Re:Too early... on Sony Discusses Plans for the Playstation 3 · · Score: 1

Okay, sony is all about trying to get another over-hyped, under inventoried, expensive gaming system out there. After all the hype and unreal claims about performance, it's still a good system (if you can kill enough people on the waiting list to move yourself up). Sony (hopefully) is going to at least wait a few years on that PS3. They should wait until the capabilities of the PS2 are getting stretched before they hit gamers (like me) again. Also, with all the stuff going down with the PS2, the impeding XBox and Game Cube, what are the major game companies gonna do? (especially Square: Hey, I don't know what I'd play if it weren't for FF) Square already has games slated for the PS2, are they planning on releasing any games on other systems? Not unless Nintendo can cut one hell of a deal to bring them back to their side. Thus, Sony can still make out big: 1. Send over a load of PS2s FAST. The XBox is on the horizon, and my bet is, it's gonna outperform Sony's item. The Gamecube? Hey, it's probably gonna be doing well too. By this time next year, I expect the PS2 to look like the Dreamcast, not wort replacing, but not worth buying either. 2. Keep Square on your side somehow. Yeah, so I'm really into their games in the first place. But one of the reasons the PS1 did so well was because of FF VII. Square is the monster in the RPG arena, and they have a fan base that's going to migrate to any platform that they choose to. If Sony can keep Square in its corner, they can at least count on that squad to support their game console area for the time being.
