I'm not suprised that the articles all point back to the bigger debate of what classifies as a "planet."
Compared to the possibility that out solar system could have a 10th planet, the idea that we should only consider 8 of them planets seems almost mroe important to the people involved.
IMHO, if scientists considered Pluto a planet for as long as it's been considered, use it as the basis for a planet. Of course, then you have to consider Jupiter's largest moons (and our moon for that matter) planets in their own right.
An alternative, use Mercury as the basis. There's been no debate that Mercury is a planet in it's own right, so that works as a mark. But, the people who discovered Pluto all those years ago would be without the prestige of finding a true "planet."
Or better yet, let's just keep arguing about it. Which actually isn't a bad idea, it keeps the hunt for larger object heated, and it keeps those people thinking.
Gotta wonder what the power source is gonna be. I mean honestly, if you have to plug the parts in during installation... that'd be one hell of a big power strip to deliver the 2 Amps for the chair.
Or, I could just imagine the packaging:
"Batteries not included"
Hell, finding the place to insert them would prolly take longer then putting the thing together.
But at least when it was done, those nifty green lights all over would be pretty welcoming...
Well, in certain cases (at my university, and some others for instance), by knowing an IP , you can trace it to a host name which is based on the user's last name.
So you have a hostname that is based on your last name, not too useful right?
Well, you go to the home page, and type in the last name on the search, hit CTRL-F, type in the part of the host name that is based on the last name, and BINGO.
You have a full name, address, phone number, major, class standing, and (of course) the full email address.
I can tell the administration to take it down, but I think it would be better if the explicitly ask you if they can post it, instead of having it buried in the forms (in fact, I can't figure out where I let them do that in the first place)...
Okay, once and for all would the whole world please stop using the word "centrifugal?"
Straight up. What holds the CD together is the molecular structure right? Centripital force pulls these molecules towards the center.
What pulls a CD's molecules to the center? The molecular sttructure.
If the intertia of the molecues on a CD can't be overtaken by the structure's stability, it'll split. So it's intertia, not "centrifugal" force.
The idea of centrifugal force is that there is a force that acts directly outward. For those of us who have taken a physics course or two, it's tangental (if that's a word, but you know what I mean).
Before we all go off on medical research:
Remember! The US has the SINGLE MOST EFFECTIVE health care system in the world. And it's far from perfect, but thanks to federal research, and even the system it's under, people are living longer and healthier than ever before.
But before we go and blame the inflated prices on GREEDY coporations, and doctors, and all. Think about the costs these people face from government agencies when introducing/prescribing a new drug, and the costs associated with the risk of these decisions (I'm talking lawsuit threats) even if the company doesn't do anything wrong. Lawyer science has dominated the courtroom for decades (remember Dow Corning folks?), that's why a doctor can get sued if a child is born with Cerebral Palsy if it was inflicted during pregnancy. That's why GENETIC problems are the fault of doctors in many cases.
Add that to the fact that taxpayers are supposedly paying for the healthcare costs of people on Medicare and Medicaid. In reality, those programs pay whatever they deem "appropriate" for the services rendered, which is usually far below what gets charged. In fact, almost all insurance companies run like that. If you don't believe me, talk to the billing people at your doctor's office, they'll be more than happy to explain how doctors have to take what they can get from those orginizations. that's the whole reason for "inflated prices."
And honestly, my doctor understands how hard it is to pay for this stuff in cash. He is always happy to extend professional courtesy to people who do pay in cash because it is expensive, but also because his staff doesn't have to get screwed by some insurance company.
Best way to fix the situation:
1. Don't use medical insurance to go and visit the doctor, use it for major medical expenses (Surgery, hospital time, etc.)
2. TORT REFORM 3. Start to appreicate how good we have it here, even with the costs. It's better than waiting on a list for three months for a checkup in many government run medical systems.
Never overestimate the intelligence of the individual, and never underestimate the stupidity of the masses.
Could it be there's a certain lot of them that were faulty? Or maybe there was a certain lot that was great until something got knocked in the line....
I'd be willing to bet that IBM is checking the serials to see where the process went wrong/right.
That is, if they ever decide to acknowledge there's a problem.
I can't even count how many domains my edu has... and the fact that they jumped on it nice and early (enough to get www.msu.edu) helped them out.
Honestly, my EDU has a lock on anything 35.11.*.*, and 35.10.*.*, but I guarantee you that every domain (except rha.msu.edu and morha.msu.edu) are getting constant traffic.
Especially with all the course info being posted on each class's website.

Given the quality of the RIAA's little babies, I don't think I could ever use the radio or other broascast medium to find new talent. Sadly, most labels are looking for the next "N-sync" (btw... I honestly hope O-Town never gets off the ground), and Britney Spears... And frankly it saddens me. I want to see the emerging talent, but most radio stations (especially the ones in my home town) only play "The hottest stuff" which only opens the door to proven formulas (sigh), and occasional new quirks.
I guess I'll just have to close my ears and wait for the next Seattle-like musical revolution, cause I'm gonna go Postal if I hear "Pop" one more time......

Before you go and say that, unless you have read the Koran (and I'll admit I haven't either), don't go and say that it's to blame. I can't name a major religion that says in the book "Kill everyone that is different than you to earn my respect".
I'd be more willing to believe that the Arab terrorism is much like the old Christian Crusades (except with car bombs and missles). "We want Palestine back, and we'll kill anyone in our way! We want our Holy Land and to rid it of those Jewish/Chrisian pig-dogs!" Instead of "We'll kill the infidels (namely the Arabs) and win our Holy Land back for our King!"
People pervert the meaning of religion for their own immediate ends. It's not the Koran, it what people are doing in the name of the Koran.
I don't know any God that thinks killing other people in cold blood is a good thing.
Glad I always have my towel with me.
I thought, why is Sun advertising like that?
I mean seriously, who expects an OS to be on a movie poster....
Independent.
Sheesh... they don't want to belong to some group.
it's no different than any cable connection.
Just turn on your router, do your setup, and you're signed on whenever your system boots up.
And it's not like a 5 port router is going to break your back either.
Sleep

Install apt and do a dist-upgrade. It'll update all your packages (including redhat-release), and it'll save on the bandwidth.
Hey, at least he wouldn't stand on his cutting board, or throw it into the aduience.....

Yea,ordering a "half-liter" just isn't the same as saying "pint."
Imagine CTF in that setup:
"Bronx captures Queens's flag"
Scores would have to be reset at a much larger interval though, flag radar would be a must, and vehicles...
But wow...
My God I'm so sad that I know what that is.....

was a friend of this guy (and in his Boy Scout troop). He helped him procure a few materials (especially the sprinkler pieces).
It's seriously an old story, but it is nice to know that this guy is helping out the Navy with their reactors.
Seriously, who better to monitor these mothers than a guy who can make a backup on his own?
Anything else just isn't worth it.
Of course, with the number of crashes Windows is responsible for, you'd think they'd be in a more reckless catagory.
