1. As usual, some non-American is getting on a high horse despite my post clearly stating its my local view. The US is part of the whole world and in the absense of Happy Unity Total World Government, everyone can feel free to post their local interpretation. No, the UN is not a world government. And most member nations are NOT democracies. And as afraid to complain as the citizens of some countries are (see article for a place called 'China'), Americans are happy to complain loudly enough to make up the difference.
2. Each branch interprets its role according to the rules its own way. One branch complaining another branch is not following the rules needs the third to mediate, not automatic condemnation, regardless of what the news anchors and comedy show hosts may imply.
In the USA there are two types of rights: enumerated and reserved. The enumerated ones are spelled out in the Constitution. At the end of the Constitution, it says (paraphrased) 'and all rights not spelled out here is reserved by the people'. That leaves a lot of territory and so pretty much any activity can be called a 'right' under that broad statement. So the tricky part is getting those reserved rights codified somehow so you know exactly what you can and cannot get away with. 'Privacy', 'anonymity', etc, are all reserved rights. The most famous is probably 'privacy'. The SCOTUS has on several occasions ruled that it was a reasonable right people should expect and they've applied it to abortion and birth control cases. That's all another rant as to whether abortion is a privacy issue or its own thing; the main point is that if you're pissed off that everything is claimed as an intrinsic right then you're probably in a country that doesn't have a Constitution that open endedly reserves a tremendous amount of power to its citizens the way the US one does.
No, breaking in via a keylogger and a magstripe reader is the same as stealing your neighbor's keys, making a copy, poking around his house while he's out, and then telling him that he needs better security.
And one the arguments I hear a lot from Republicans about why the Democrats are so bad is that they spend too much money helping the poor
This might be what you thought you heard, but no Republican actually said it. The argument is that Democrats make too many simple transfer payments to the poor from the wealthy. If we can accept the general truism that giving a man a fish feeds him today but teaching him to fish feeds him for a lifetime, then Republicans view transfer payments as part 1 and would prefer a system that encourages part 2 and makes part 1 a voluntary only system. There are a LOT of Republicans who donate both time and money to private institutions that help the poor (usually church/faith based organizations) so they are not at all against the idea of giving a fish today, just against using the tax man to involuntarily collect donations and another bloated beauracratic system to dole it.
There's a reason those new Dells which boast 19h of battery life have SSD's
No, the new Dells that are boasting that have a battery pack option that is the same size as the bottom of the laptop. Think of one of those laptop cooler pads except 15 pounds of battery instead of a couple of fans inside.
I can think of a few jobs that are a lot less happiness inducing, like insurance actuary... placing bets on how long people have to live must be a downer.
OTOH, if you can learn to leave work behind when you go on vacation then IT security pays a decent salary and you should be able to afford a relaxing and distracting trip to whereever entertains you, especially in nature settings.
So, what parts of Wikipedia do you consider to be fundamentally wrong?
Pointing out exactly what's wrong the problem, isn't it? Sure, most of it is reasonably accurate, but what parts aren't? Who knows when someone who really knows the material last looked at it and corrected the mistakes? At least with a book there are authors (real people, not handles), editors, and dates attached to the editing.
all my life using lead solder on my kitchen table... Oh that's right. I don't eat the solder! Fortunately, neither do these kids
And does your kitchen look like this? No, I didn't think so. But it's easier to ignore the real situation by making a flip comment from the clean safety of your wealthy home.
I've left old monitors and computers and gear out overnight for the trash
Computers and misc gear aren't that bad in the big scheme of things, but please, take CRTs to a recycler. Those things are full of nasty heavy metals and chemicals. Even if "everyone does it" they're bad enough that saving yours from the landfill makes a difference.
OK, OK, so the "recycler" will just ship it to China where it will be melted down in the open but that's another rant.
No reasonable person hates "China"; China is a great place with a lot of fascinating history and culture. Maoist style communists, on the other hand, most reasonable people can agree to hate.
If you scuba dive to 6k feet, you're bad enough not to care about this sub. On the other hand, I hope it doesn't grab the last female of some highly endangered species that was just about to make a remarkable recovery.
the edge of the earth is the "antarctic rim". However, their map shows it as being something like 80,000 miles long
Now we just need there to be fossil fuels found in Antarctica. All our energy problems would be solved for a loooooong time! It would take millenia to run out of 80k miles worth.

Sweet, I've been wondering how to hack the trouble ticket system's Oracle back end at work. Now when a deploy has issues in production that weren't seen in development, I can retroactively fix my ticket attachments so it looks like the system engineers screwed up the deploy. Muahahahahaha!!!!

It's decided. We need more OMG PONIES
Thanks to the firefox plugin of the same name, that's all I ever get here.

You know you've been watching too much Star Trek when you casually say pack up a hotel and exhibit hall and move them to Seattle from Vegas.

My friend is a TSA goon - I wouldn't want to do that to the telephone sanitizers.
The article is a question about "happiness" not "stress" - those are stressful jobs you listed but they can be fulfilling, which brings happiness.
I had just bought real estate there
You think that sucks; a friend of mine just left on a one way colony transport.

Umm, let's take a look at the edit track on a Wikipedia article:

:Mgiganteus1 and Bob98133. Now, I can check up on a textbook author, Prof Soandso, but Bob98133? Who the heck is that?
So the editors are

the fastest way to get rid of a dictator is to flood them with technology
Someone forgot to tell the dictators in China to stop using the flood of technology for the great firewall and the street video surveilance.

see how many China haters there are on Slashdot
No reasonable person hates "China"; China is a great place with a lot of fascinating history and culture. Maoist style communists, on the other hand, most reasonable people can agree to hate.
That implies a species that lays eggs ... Papa Smurf has a fucking beard, they're mammals
Smurfs are therefore monotremes.

I love these guys because they will never, ever admit to the joke
It's like going to a Star Trek convention and talking to someone dressed up as Spock. He will never, ever, break character for the entire weekend.
Maybe not even after going home but that's between him and his mother.
When I go on my honeymoon to BC (I'm east coast), I'm going to have to fly *again*.
