Alright, I know UNIX been around for 28 years, and X has been around for 15. How long was W around? When did GUI's start becoming commonplace on UNIX systems? So 1984 ( the year of my birth [ I'm as old as XWindows ] ) was when the project started, eh? Then W must have done some major sucking in the first few years of its lifetime. Any help will be appriciated! Thank you.

DIVX is dead

Circut City has ditched DIVX ( and it's about time, too ). There was no computer support for DIVX ( I couldn't buy a drive for it and pop it in my machine ). And, though cheaper if you didn't want a movie forever, it was still more expensive than it should have been. Someone pointed to Betamax as a standard that failed. It DIDN'T! Beatmax is still *heavily* used in the TV industry. As a matter of fact, most cameras that come off of the production line today are Betamax. I was interested in purchasing a camera with a Betamax drive in it, but the media is insanly expensive ( because, it didn't catch on in the US's home viewing market ). Betamax should have become the new standard of the 80's, but it failed due to lack of financial backing from big companies. I would like everyone to know that I watch quite a few movies that I copy from LaserDisc/DVD to Beta and they look *GREAT* ( and yes, I pay for the movies. My LaserDisc and DVD players suck ). Anyway, down with DIVX, up with DVD! ( It was about time. ) Sorry, Curcuit City guys.
This article made it seem like there was an exploit for it. Is there? I have a network of NT4 with IIS on them at work. This would be just the thing to use so I can convince my boss to let me install Linux on them. Thanks for any and all help!
Linux is definatly more than 10% written by Americans, but that could NEVER be proven, especially since Linux is in no way exclusivly American. You could download Debian from a mirror site that's outside of the US, dodging export laws all together. I'm not extreamly happy about such a thing being exported to Iran, but that isn't my business. So download a copy of your favorite distro from a site outside of the USA and send it along or get your users to download a copy. G'luck. . .
Uh, hey guys. I don't think anyone is going to be getting one this weekend. Or next for that matter. I called up Diamond today. I was gonna buy the Rio PiMP300 and they told me it was pre-order. Not only that, but the 32MB expansion card isn't out yet. The Rios aren't even being produced yet, and they don't have a date when the production will start and the units will be shipped. I know I don't want to chance it. That wouldn't be to smart. To hell with 96MB of memory. Oh, and is there any software to power these bastards under Linux? Thank you much... ------
If you look closely at the the new, spiffy lookin' G3s you'll see that the 3 part of G3 at the Apple over it make the outline of a Mickey head! Scary enough for ya?
For once, someone is dead on right. Windows 95 is a toy operating system that has a few haphazard add-ons (networking, PPP, DNS, FTP, etc.). These add-ons fall well within the specs of *their* mission (they need to f**k around with e-mail). So they put the evil, bastard computers from hell on a spindly little backbone and set them a chugging. Let's hope they don't run anything mission critical. Mebbe Windows works better in space:-).

OSS is the *only* pirated software on my Linux box.

Not a bad idea, eh? Netwinder, Virtual I/O glasses and all. The power source would be a bitch to put together for an idiot like me...

Yeah Right. I'm sure. I must be on crack to post this. Oh, yeah, I am. SuSe (Suess, Dammit!!!) kicks. If you don't like it, I don't like you. Bu-Bye.
Sorry Stan. You'll be missed.
I get to hear about 20-some seconds and then the server boots me! Can someone post it in .ra instead of this damned .ram format? Thanks in advance.
What the hell does this message mean? Every time I try to get the article, it comes up with this message. Is it a 404 error?
