Sony will be selling a bunch of those as an add-on to their Aibo, so they can have robo-fleas :)

Really... That Salon article didn't give much specific information. How do you tell them what to do? Do they have any basic AI? How do you communicate with them? How do they communicate amongst themselves?

    So many questions...

Let's see... If right now there's already more people than blocks, there won't be enough blocks for anybody unless they start sending duplicate blocks (which is a waste). I know there would be more overhead if they used smaller blocks, but it doesn't have to be 2k blocks. If blocks were half the size, twice as many people could have new blocks and they would be processed faster.

I'm not exactly sure about how this works because I haven't tried it (yet), but wouldn't it be possible to use smaller blocks?

I know they would probably have to make some changes on the clients, but this way more people would be able to collaborate. Besides, since the blocks would be smaller, they would be processed faster, as more people can bang on them.

You can copy your current bookmarks to your mozilla directory, like this:

    cp ~/.netscape/bookmarks.html mozilla/package/res/rdf/bookmarks.html

That's discussed on the release notes.

  7. Sounds great, but... on SETI@Home For Linux · · Score: 2

There's something that worries me about this. There will probably be some kind of stats or rankings, and people will compete to get to the top. That's fine, but what if somebody develops a client that just drops the blocks so they can get to the top of that list? I heard something like that was developed for rc5.

This is not just an encryption contest, and much more is at stake. I would hate for it to be ruined just by a bunch of stupid people.
