The Nordic countries, which we Scandinavians use to describe our region, includes the three Scandinavian Kingdoms; Denmark, Norway and Sweden, as well as Iceland and Finland.
The reason being that Finland does not belong to the same ethnic or linguistic group as the others. To put it simply: the Vikings came from the three Kingdoms, while Iceland was settled by them. Finland however was later conquered by Sweden and partly colonized.
Just to nitpick, I think Scandinavia is a geographic definition, i.e. the peninsula consisting of Sweden and Norway. Denmark and Northern Finland may be considered parts of it.
Also, the left hand issue makes a lot of sense if I think about playing the guitar, which for me has little effect on singing, and the hard parts are again done with the left hand. This also reminds me of left-handed people who developed a stammer as a result of being forced to be right-handed.
Interestingly I can't respond verbally to someone while playing the piano. I can understand someone perfectly and think of a response (nodding if yes/no, for instance), but the verbal part of my brain seems to be engaged with the music.
I have also noticed this, and it has been frustrating since I would like to be able to accompany my own singing. In the past, I could only sing while playing if I only used the left hand (which is often enough, being bass and chords, but it looks a little dumb on stage). I also recall experiencing tension in my throat while learning difficult passages (not singing at the time). However, after some practice I can sing while playing fairly well, and as a bonus, the tension in my throat is mostly gone. Nevertheless, for best results I still prefer doing one thing at a time.
Seriously, IMHO the only thing more boring than playing golf is watching other people play golf.
I think this applies to pretty much anything: Doing it yourself is immensely more fun than watching others do it. I think this applies particularly to sports, where a culture of keeping yourself fit is constantly being ruined by competition and commercialism.
This is not ARM, but it is still non-x86 with completely Free software and firmware. RMS uses one, I'm personally waiting for the new quad-core version.
Regulations on financial transactions shouldn't allow semi-competent 17 year olds to handle large amounts of other peoples' money, for instance, or to design software for such.
So using Free software would be out of the question, because it might include code written by a minor? Or by somebody with a false identity, a codename such as "Satoshi"?
I agree on your main point about handling other people's money responsibly. But the designer of the software has nothing to do with this, you still have to choose the software responsibly.
Man-made elements are not natural... because humans are supernatural beings? Last time I checked, protons, neutrons, electrons, top quarks, tau neutrinos etc. are natural things. (I am a physicist, meaning I deal with nature.)

Why people think "performace" means "throughput" is something I'll never
understand. Throughput is _always_ secondary to latency, and really only
becomes interesting when it becomes a latency number (ie "I need higher
throughput in order to process these jobs in 4 hours instead of 8" -
notice how the real issue was again about _latency_).
Seconded. I would say it is more about learning math (especially number theory) than any programming language, but of course you'll learn some of both. It is also fun to try several languages for one problem, and think about the best language for each (I've mostly used Python and Fortran).

Behind every powerful woman... is a man checking out her ass.

It stands (pun intended) for Large Hardon Collider. It is the Real Men's (aka physicists') version of a cockfight.

Randall Munroe, is that you?
So that's why you call it the pound sign.
"my SS#" my #ss.
Finally, somebody who uses proper scientific units. You are truly the melting point of gold.

What?
Also, Gigabyte gave them this "special" motherboard.
So it was like winning in "special" olympics.
emerge like a Spartan!
I run Gentoo on Xilinx FPGAs, you insensitive clod!
I prefer the 1336 of 1337 Gentoomen.
The question is, can you link to 4 pages of ads with a clean conscience when there is a print version?

This joke is not meme-compliant as per Slashdot policy. The sandwich needs to run on Linux.
Maybe it's an ice cream sandwich.
I occidentally the whole train.
Ununseptium?

I'd be intrigued to study a chemical that does not come from nature (also known as the universe).

'Transformer' bans almost all electronics.
So besides autoclaves, they are also banning autobots.
