There are two consulting compainies with in 30mi of me and I live on a farm. Bump that to 60 or less then 1hr drive and it is over 50. Why do I have to move if I switch jobs. I can change companies once a year untill I retire and still not have to move. And everytime sombody tells me I can't git along without them the first thing I do is put my hand on my wallet. It is where they all want to be. Yes I think tech jobs will continue to increase. And yes I will rely on my network skills to keep me employed. I don't need or want a union. And gloom and doom talk will not help your case and only helps you look like a demigog.... The only thing I have to fear is that the company I work for will figure out that my grumbleing around raise time is an act so I don't have to pay them to play with all their wonderful toys.;)

Fine if you accept the following conditions...
1. If a worker does not want to join the union they don't have to.
2. If a worker dosen't want to join they don't have to pay union dues.
3. Workers are allowed to leave the union at any time they wish and bargin with management alone.
4. No worker who does not join the union can not have his car destroyed by some coward who can't face that worker. Also no other forms of shunning trying to set up people or harassment will be used.
5. If I object to the way the union is handeling money nobody will show up in the parking lot and try to break my legs.

The defence lawyer showed the DA he was going to drag the case out four a minium of four years and fight on a free speach issue. The DA simply gave up. Walked away droped the case and his reccord was cleared. He was gulity. He admitted he was gulity. He walked. What differance do you think this proposed law would make?
Tell you what why don't you switch you healt care provider from the place you have it now to a Vets hospital. Like most midsize nonprofits we can barely afford one full time (me) and one part time (my boss). Let alone the time or money for me to pick up a programming language like Perl. I have begun to phase out the MS software and am replacing it with Red Hat or BSD. Yes we are getting our software from MS for free however the organization can not afford the hardware to run the software anymore. Even with some truly generous lease rates on the hardware. (read negative interest). There are people in the office who think that oss is a waste of time however my boss "gets it" and reads/.(Hi Dick)

You might want to consider something that we did. When we had to run new phone wires to work with the DSL we were bringing in. ALL phone lines have been replaced with CAT5 Plenum in the basement everything is routed through a patch panel. Using a patch cord I can in an instant change a phone jack into a network jack. You have to get the special jacks that will accept both a RJ45 and a telephone plug. They are about $2.75 each but it is nice to be able to hook up a computer or a phone wherever you need them. Also the DSL is routed to the entire network. Sophone wire splits 5 ways takes up 5 slots in patch panel. Each wall socket routes into a slot in patch panel. Network Switch mounted into homemade rack under patch panel. DSL plugs directly into Switch to make any particular wall jack a Phone or a Network jack just plug a patch cord into jack. It is a little more work but totally flexible. Just my.002

The only way to stop Microsoft from swinging a club is to take it away. 1 NT operating systems 2 Windows operating systems 3 Office operating systems 4 IE & Games & Hardware Each company can compete in the market. However I would love to see how you equate the auctioning of "Nazi-related items" to a web site talking about how to kill the president. That is one the main differences in this subject. I don't have to like what someone is saying to allow them to say it. If Yahoo bows to pressure pulls the auctions altogether (I think this is the entire point of the whole law suit) they will be starting a bad president. The policy of anonymous tips gives you no control over the quality of the information you are receiving. You have surely seen many references to how this could be easily abused. 2. Attempting to use anonymous information is legally shaky at best. In court it would be tossed out in a second. 3. Pinkerton will be accepting enormous liability here. If for example a child is singled out by this system and refuses to cooperate what does Pinkerton feel it can do? As a parent I can assure you that if my child's schooling were interrupted by this system for information via PARS or whatever, based on anonymous information the school district and the local Pinkerton district would be in court for a very long and very expensive time. Has Pinkerton considered this? As someone who knows the local Pinkerton district very well and a geek I feel I am in a very good position to advise you to reconsider this plan. I have seen Pinkerton decline contracts that called for guards to be placed directly in harms way with no means to protect themselves. This too has applied to legal hazards. For example retail loss prevention. To many legal hassles for my local district so they just left it out of the picture. 4. Offering ANY type of reward for information anonymous or otherwise can bring up questions of conflict of interest. 5.
