Really how about Unreal? It works just fine on my box. Office 2000 as has been mentioned even some of my older dos games will work. Next time try the software before you say it won't work. No it is not the end all of the attempts to crack M$ market hold. But it is closer then anything else I have seen. BTW It also detected and configured my sound card. Somthing no distro has yet done. So at least for my self I say good start.
Your kidding right ? A the risk of replying to a troll... Yes people have heard of site license Have you ever seen the cost of a BSA audit? You know the one that you agree to do whenever MS want's to. *.nix is free. Red Hat is included in this why? Newer versions yes they do usually within hours of a bug or hole being announced. And Microsoft? BTW most 'new' versions operate the same way after the upgrade so no new training is needed. Qualified computer people cost more then people who have no degrees or at least certifications.
I don't think most people act like *nix has never had a virus. However if you want to take this that way, the amount of virus that are/have been released for both OS can be compared if you like. A good point for linux being less costly? lets see here...... 1. It costs nothing. Nada MS costs what $230 for XP pro now? 2. With MN for $2k now you can have a fast desktop with OS. With *nix for $2k you can have a server or a desktop your choice. You are only paying the hardware 3 Lets go to servers again *nix is free. How much is MS highest powered server? Let see her No down time due to "patches that break more then they fix. For NT as you state can you say service pack 6? You know the one, it locked Lotus out of every NT server it was on for how long ? A week I think..... Any further questions on that one?
You know I was wondering about that. CNN (I think) said that the NOC carries between 33 and 50% of the traffic in Europe. Want to teach the ones that don't get it why they are always hearing the word redundancy from the network people. (Shrug) Bet they would be back there as soon as the dingbat judge found out his day trading access was shot to hell. Last one out turn off the lights and AC errr just the lights.
Wait just a minute here. I have done business with SUN from the standpoint of a medium sized non profit company. The Midwest sales rep listened to my price concerns and basically lined up grants that would have gotten us some heavy metal at next to nothing. (Read less then 5000) The plan was to take the network to *nix and keep everything on one server. Sun even offered to send a rep to help set it up for FREE. (As in beer) So don't even try to tell me that they act like M$..... Not to mention that open office is there because of sun. If thy had not GPL'ed it you would be either stealing a copy or using Koffice (shudder)
Honestly though, set down your tinfoil hats for a second: Why do we really care? Really?
Um because 1 They did not ask me. 2 *I* don't like ANYBODY snooping around, I have rights to privacy, and I defend them.
If you don't care that is fine for you. However "tinfoil hats" reveals your opinion clearly. The fact that I dislike being spyed on does not mean that I am paranoid. Even IF the information is not tied to my MAC (yeah right) I see no reason that I need to provide another stream of money to Microsoft. I also believe based on past actions that they will use the data in ways I would not like. Rember they were sure enough that people would not change their default desktops that they were able to make money on people not being smart enough to change them. At home I will not have any microsoft installed anywhere. At work I have firewalled all of microsoft's domains and IP's. If there is to be a patch on my network I will be the one installing it thank you very much.
You know I really am not trying to start a flame war here but your statement about "...they can jump to get it off..." Sums up your attitude on the whole topic. And mine is that as long as *I* am paying for the computers, bandwith, and domain names *I* will use the RBL of my choice. If you want to mail me you can go by the rules of that RBL or *I* don't WANT to get mail from you.
And I hope you will forgive me for being blunt but I really don't care if you don't like it. I have had complaints from users about not being able to email their home accounts from work. They had an open mail server at work. After a long time explaining relays to him and telling him to talk to his mail admin I set up a secconed mail server that blocked nothing. Everything anybody sent it would be able to go to (internal only) accounts.
He said great, untill his wife was opening their email. He asked me to refilter his mail. It is now my tatic of choice. Most people don't last a week unfiltered. And they want the filters back.
NT 4.0 SP6 Ring any bells for you?
Now Microsoft wants to bypass even the software police? And be able to break the computers at work with non-compatable patches without my having any say about it? Not &$#$# likely...
(Shakes his head) You know what folks I really could care less. Unless Microsoft does somthing very clever (I will believe it when I see it)
I am just going to sniff how it is connecting to the Internet and firewall the hell out of it.
If it uses port 80 or something then if I have to I will firewall ALL of Microsoft's IP's. I am not even going to try to explain this one to work.
Ever try evolution?
I just fired up Mandrake 8.1 and when playing around opened the latest version.
Clone of outlook is right.
What do you want calendering
tasks?
It is there and open source.
Personally it will be the standard mail client at the company I work for as soon as I can get the boss to sit down in front of my computer long enough to realise I am not using microsoft anything. The only thing I need now is one the office sets to intrgrate like Outlook and MS office.
There is a law in place that if you have been convicted of ANY type of domestic violence EVER you can not own a hand gun. The howling of cops that lost their jobs did not get the supreme court to overturn the law. It was retro active as well. If they are allowed to get away with it they will continue to take away our rights.
If you don't believe it simply continue to do nothing.
First comes helping the Injured and burying the dead.
Then securing the problems exposed to prevent it from happening again.
Then comes the analysis of who did it.
Then comes justice.
Count on it. There will be retaliation. It will involve the military.
They will figure out who did it and who helped.
Talk all you wish, just stay out of the way when we go after the people who did this.
As an American I would say that is acceptable with two qualifiers.
One that EVERYBODY who obstructs the efforts to investigate pursue capture and return all responsible people two the United States is counted as people responsible. Two you understand if we don't give a sh*t about anybody else's opinion about how they will be executed.
It would not have been me before today, however I will be happy when we KNOW who did it and they are punished. I don't care who it was obviously someone needs a lesson.
CNN Reports that a "senior intelligence official" was said to say there are significant indications that bin lauden's people were involved. Also that he has been training his people to fly passenger jets.
That depends on where you live.
Here in MN you can get arrested for trashing your own house or personal property.
No it's not a joke. The law has been broadened to include all property. Pick up a wood chair and smash it. I call the police and you stand a really good chance of seeing jail intake up close.
I am starting to wonder if we are going to see a trend with broadening of the laws...
Good Grief people don't you know it has been cracked all ready?
Check IRC some nit wit admin set it so if you tried to download it using download manager you didn't have to pay for the download.
Two the hack has been available for days now.
Heh some security....broken before it's out.
I work for an ISP and some of our coustomers practice this. The latest IIS worm owned their SQL server. Their soulition? Remove and reinstall the SQL server and NOT do testing on the rest of the network. Their about to find out the real meaning of this topic. Sigh
Wrong. Since the Regan era the CIA's charter has had a little adjustment that in fact lets them opperate in the US.
If I dig up the link I will post it below.
Who cares about DSL or land lines.
In many cities (at least in the US)The companies that will be supplying your access will do so with high freq radio.
The only time people will want a land line is if they need to go higher then T-1.
None of the latency that plages Starband and the others. Easy deployment.
And with any type of mobile device, web tablet, note book, hand held ect....
You are always connected to the net. As long as you are with in 30 or so miles of a tower. Even if you are zooming along in a Taxi at say 62MPH. The towers will hand off your connection just like a cell phone. The only draw back is if you have to get the receiver gear for the house. It can cost as much as $600.00 US...
>>Sorry, but you can't change the law and the >>truth just to suit your convenience.
With all due respect why the hell not?
Why should the government have all the fun?
BTW your little missed one thing about American law. Laws change... The people select their law makers to shape the country in the way they feel
it should be.
Unless you think the laws should never change?
Hint think slavery, poll taxes, and drunk driving laws.... Unless you are saying they should go back to the way they were.
So am I. Your rights end with your nose.
Or do you want to allow me to force you to do/not do things? It work bolth ways.
Are you sure you want to start throwing around opinions? Are you 100% confident you won't get stuck with MY opnions forced on you.
Old answer turn your censorware to block the site and keep your opnions off my reality.
Yes as much as it means to the Isralies.
What is your point?
Really how about Unreal? It works just fine on my box. Office 2000 as has been mentioned even some of my older dos games will work. Next time try the software before you say it won't work. Remind me to not hire you if I need a lawyer.

It was on CNN today. I am monitoring TV and the statement matched that exactly. The passanger locked himself in a bathroom and dialed 911.

Mabey you should suggest 3mp.com to your roomie He can share his music there and even get paid for it without the RIAA getting a penney.

Some people scream, some people would rather laugh. Who are you to tell everybody how to cope with the terminal thing called life?
