Didn't the matrix have a computer in charge? Anyways...
America is the MOST IGNORANT COUNTRY in the world. With that I mean that the average american is ignorant about Science, politics, the outer world AND DOESN'T CARE. As long as he can watch the superbowl or the latest Britney's concert, he's fine and doesn't worry about anything else.
Ok, you are right, as far as AVERAGE americans go (calling an entire country ignorant, is ignorant in itself), but what's your point? That you are jealous, like an average school boy who gets mad at the smart kid because he doesn't have to study as much as you do? Don't get mad because our country can be successful even WITH a majority of idiots. It probably means we are doing something right as a society!
One thing I hate about using my iPod under windows is I cannot leave it plugged in during bootup at all, otherwise it will try to boot from the iPod every time (Unless I go into the bios EVERY TIME during the bootup process as it seems to forget the settings each time with the iPod plugged in) I'm sure this is not a problem with all bioses though.
Would it be possible to make a dongle that sits between the ps2/usb cable on a keyboard and the computer that encrypts the keys pressed, the OS would then decrypt the keys as they were being typed in. Of course the "cheap hardware" could do screen captures using the video signal.
Good example of how responsive a java application can be if written properly. I've been playing with webstart alot recently and I'm surprised you don't see more webstart applications popping up in corporations, distribution and updates are so much easier not to mention you aren't tied to a browser.
It seems the security model for webstart is better than a webapp also, although I haven't written a web application in almost a year, so I'm not sure how they go about accessing the local filesystem, printing, etc from an "AJAX" application?
Google is creating a webstart based office suite with help from sun!!! "I shall name him... Doodle"
Your point is valid but you used a bad example. A chat application would be easy using AJAX as people have pointed out. A better example would be as someone else pointed out, a Photoshop type application. Are you going to do a guassian blur on a 200 MB image in JavaScript? Send the image over HTTP, have the server process it and send it back? I don't think so.
Wouldn't you rather take your powerbook and watch it on a decent sized screen (larger than 3")? I take my powerbook whenever I fly anyways... If you don't want to spend that much, take the $500 you plunk down for vidPod and buy one of those 7" portable dvd players.
Maybe they could call it the stupiduseoftechnologyPod? I'm going to spend all that energy transferring a movie to my videoPod to watch it once? People will pay for music videos? It's just another checkbox on the feature list...
I have an HP Laserjet 4MP I think I got in 1995 for close to $1300. I'm on my second toner and it has yet to have any problems printing anything... You get what you pay for I guess.
I second that.
They live in cities and towns. They have access to technology. They're just as smart as you and I.
So what do they want then? Why do they need anyones help?

Consider the number of times you will re-listen to a song versus how many times you will re-watch a tv episode, then rerun your numbers.
What about the secret battery in the phone that can't be removed and is secretly powering location updates???
You can't boot from USB?

Thats a good idea about the addresses, they should order it that way! Now you are thinking properly.
I second that... Anyone not using YYYYMMDDhhmmss is retarded!
Can someone explain to me why in gods name would you want to use anything other than YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss

What vote? I wasn't invited to this election!
So this is what those dorks in the spelling bees grow up to be... Their parents must be so proud :)
If he was working for Apple he would not have had to worry about catching any virii...
Ugly? Take off your members only jacket and join the party.

I wish I could get increasing penetration in my girlfriend's business...
...but it doesn't look very efficient from an HCI perspective. Maybe if they put a crease in the window after folding it would become more usable.

Devry is for idiots, trust me.

My computer has 6 usb ports, get 6 usb flash drives and RAID 5 them. If one dies replace it ;)
But it only has 1150 mouse buttons...
Let's be honest here. Dell just plain sucks.
