Accepting that atheism can have at least two meanings (active disbelief or simple lack of belief)
No. "Active disbelief" is atheism, the other one is agnosticism. Two entirely different things, they should never be bunched together under the term "atheism."
why use the A10? because it's around $7.50 in very large volumes, that's why. all its competitors are around the $11 to $12 mark. the other reason is: allwinner are actually trying, within the best of their ability and understanding, to actually work with the free software community. some things they Grok, others they don't. it's challenging, but it's exciting.
So, basically, "screw the end-users as long as we can shave $5 off the price."
I made a "Ask Slashdot" about the topic a month or so ago hoping to raise some discussion about it, but apparently Slashdot editors didn't like the idea, possibly because I lambasted the Allwinner A10 quite clearly. To keep this comment short I'll just drop a few select quotes from the wiki pages:
Integrate G2D support for 2D acceleration, right now Mali drivers sometimes are slower than FBDEV in 2D tasks ( http://linux-sunxi.org/Mali400 )
,
* No output modules support apart from cedarfb which uses raw framebuffer access (not compatible with xf86-video-mali and any other driver/device that wants to write raw at the same moment). * No support for GUI of the VLC, only command line VLC is supported * 1080p and such movies with high bitrate sometimes buffer too slow and frames are dropping. * No support for OSD because of lack of YUV420 ( http://linux-sunxi.org/VLC )
Disadvantages Allwinner's CedarX technology and libraries:
Allwinner's own CedarX proprietary libraries have no clear usage license, so even if the source code for some versions is available the terms-of-use is unknown in open source software.
The Android glue code is implemented as a "media player" (parallel to Android's Stagefright multimedia framework) instead of as standard OpenMAX (OMX) components and API's.
This "media player" has limitations when it comes to playing back content pointed to by Android URIs and some web-based content.
There is no glue code for any other multimedia frameworks on GNU/Linux systems. The use of OpenMAX (OMX) instead would have rendered this a non-issue, with existing projects like GstOpenMAX (GStreamer OpenMAX). ( http://linux-sunxi.org/CedarX )
All these things quite well show the lack of commitment and complete blindness towards all the possibilities these kinds of SoCs could enable if only the software and the licenses were up to snuff. This brings me to the question: why choose the A10 when there are SoCs that atleast support the standard way of accelerating video through OpenMAX and/or GStreamer? Who does everyone seem to use Mali-400 when it's apparently very poorly supported? Is there any manufacturer who is even PLANNING to some day do a SoC with properly maintained and supported software package -- or better yet, release the programming documents to the wild so people can implement F/OSS software packages?
Any task a gui can do a can be done faster without it.
Oh, please. Take your hand off your dick, stop masturbating to the CLI, put your pants up and realize that CLI doesn't suit for e.g. creating visually-consumed content, for managing audio-visual content, for design work and so on and so forth.
You must have a hell lot of a hard time reading books, my friend. That is, if you try doing so at all.
There is a big difference between books and games. Some of us are more visual and just cannot shut that portion of us down if there is any kind of stimuli; with books there is no stimuli at all so there it doesn't bother, but with Planescape: Torment and similar games there is visual stimuli, no matter how hard you try to ignore it, and therefore it changes the whole thing.
Google is mostly trying to sleaze their hidden tracking and platforms to play the big game. They know they need this tracking to further their services. Not their search service but their ad service.
I'm just now getting around to exploring remote admin options. I just recently discovered the joy of X over SSH and decided to be done with VNC. Now I see this...why would I use Splashtop instead of X over SSH?
Speed, mostly. Splashtop is a whole buttload faster than X over SSH, plus as it was mentioned, it can carry audio and all with it. Also, with X over SSH you lose all the stuff you had running if you get disconnected, whereas with Splashtop you don't. If you're familiar with Nomachine NX then Splashtop is a lot like that, only seemingly still slightly faster and supports more clients -- NX doesn't have an Android-client, for example.
At what point does a phenomenon become an irregularity, an irregularity become an exception and an exception become a mild deviation?
I do not have the necessary qualification to answer that. But alas, AS is independent of cultural background and works the same both in modern countries and in underdeveloped ones, and the social clues that people with AS so often tend to miss are present in wild-life, pets, poor people, rich people -- that is what makes it an irregularity.
Then perhaps they should stop taking it as a single label describing them, and instead realize that it's a single label for describing PORTIONS of their behaviour.
Maybe it's a talent rather than a disorder./shrug. Discuss.
Why do people with AS try so hard to insinuate that it isn't a disorder? Sounds very much like insecurity. Personally I view it as a disorder AND a talent, not one or the other.
That's because people with Asperger's Syndrome are forced to socialize
That's ignorant. There do exist people with AS who actually wish themselves that they could socialize normally, but can't. You're just trying to blame everyone else and insinuate that no one with AS would ever dream of wanting more normal social contacts.
That it causes issues for people doesn't make it a disorder. Being left handed causes issues for a whole lot of people. Being homosexual causes issues for a lot of people. That doesn't make them disorders, as the problems lie in the society these people are living in.
No, the fact that AS causes issues for people isn't the thing that makes it a disorder. What, however, does make it a disorder is the fact that the person with AS is impaired in areas that do belong to basic human psychology and social skills. A disorder, as defined by dictionaries, is an irregularity, and that quite clearly DOES fit the description for AS. Also, blaming society for the problems people with AS encounters is illogical as these people would STILL be seeing these exact same kinds of problems even in villages with only a handful of people in them -- the problem stems from their impairment in recognizing social clues, and that obviously is not the fault of someone else. Laying blame on someone does not change that fact.
Seriously, it's true. Even better to be an actual girl. Poseurs like "Raven" Alder can cut and paste text from a cookie recipe and still get automagically upmodded to +5 every time.
As a female person I cannot help but feel that you have some petty, childish axe to grind. Did you steal it from Toys 'R' Us? I mean, I don't see my own comments automatically getting upvotes. Most of the time my comments don't get voted either way, and atleast I view that as a good thing; when you don't automatically get upvoted to +5 every time you post something you can actually consider your comment score as somewhat proper feedback.
You may be fine with Asperger's, but there's a whole lot of people for whom it causes lots of issues, too. I've met several such people myself and used to talk with one guy from the Netherlands for something around a year or so, and it was quite clear that he wasn't enjoying it. That is to say that while you may personally be fine with it you must also take into account the others who aren't.
I have a feeling the OP was trying to be sarcastic. No one in any kind of even mostly-sane state of mind would just throws desktop and laptop computers in the trash just for an updated iTunes - version.
Not entirely correct. The underlying system is indeed Darwin ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darwin_(operating_system) ), but all the GUI-stuff is proprietary. And quite obviously all the GUI-stuff is a part of the OS and therefore you cannot say OSX is BSD.
I'm using KDE with Windows 8 RT (Microsoft surface). It's the best of both worlds -- the rock-solid NT kernel and the KDE desktop. iPadders look a little jealous when they see a real desktop on a tablet.
How did you go about installing KDE on it? They do not provide any binaries or instructions for that. In fact I smell bullshit here, but I'm not gonna mention what mistake you did until you respond.

You just have to stop being picky and enjoy the story and the old but pleasant art.
And I just said that I can't. I wish I could, but I just can't.

Stop deluding yourself; everyone already knows this.
Hell, at least with Microsoft and PAID software I know I'm not losing my privacy.
Haha. Hahaha. Bwahahaha.

Perhaps if the so-called "normals" did that first it would help.
Expecting the inferior group to lead the way and be an example? Uhh.
Even the word "discussing" is a label, a definition, for certain kind of communication. So yes, it is true.
Only Aspergers sufferers would want that shit job?
"Sufferers." That is a somewhat poor choice of word as not everyone with AS does suffer from it.

We need to stop calling things stuff and start actually understanding them in meaningful ways.
Understanding and discussing things without ever defining any terms for them is impossible.

Yes, I am. However, you should notice that they do only offer x86 - binaries while Windows RT is ARM...
