I'm sure your aunt would be just as much confused if she drove cars with an on/off button all her life, but this weird car has a key, like a house key, and you need to do something non-trivial with it!
Of course she would have been. But the point is that at the very least I would expect a rental car to have a manual on board. A short introduction is in the interest of the car rental company anyway. Who knows what someone who has never driven a car with an automatic gearbox may do to the thing.
My aunt recently made a vacation in Las Vegas. When she was picking up her rental car (after a 10 hours flight) the guy responsible for handing them out just pointed at the car and went on to deal with other people. So she went to the car and waited for the guy to give her a short introduction..
After 5 minutes she realized that there wasn't going to be one. Since it was one of those keyless models (she had never seen one before) she insisted.
This seemed to piss off the guy but he finally came over. He opened the door, pointed at the start button and said: "You press this and then it drives". Then he left again leaving behind my baffled aunt.
Since she still couldn't even open the trunk she tried to find the manual. Only to find out that there wasn't one in the car.
Griev may be selfish if you are overcoming the loss of someone close to you.
Empathy on the other hand allows us to simphatize with the suffering of other people. So while these people might have died doing something stupid I find myself unable to gloat about it.
Considering that in the summer 1944 Germany was starting to lose on all fronts and would not capitulate even when the allies started to invade Homeland-Germany I would say that Hitler was indeed willing to sacrifice his entire country.
I really hope Bioware miraculously passes the saving throw against EAs touch of death.
If the marketing campaign for Dragon Age Origins is any indication it does not look good though.
That often happens in power strips if there are child safety features in the socket. Some of them are just too rigid.
Also I may be biased but of all the european designs I encountered up till now the swiss reallyseems to be the best. You can have 3 outlets in the same space of a single euro one.
On second thought maybe that's only if the computer has iTunes installed.
Maybe I imagine things but I think my iPhone does show up as a storage device when connected to a Computer.
We should also just get rid of guns because not all bullets are effective. ;)
No we should get rid of them because some of them are effective.

It is completly possible to have a big budget movie with "names" that utterly fails. Waterworld for example.
Sadly that is exactly how it would play out. Heck it pretty much already has happened.

Agreed. The arrogant cruelty in the tone of those stories renders them unfunny for me.

Now we need one for Dwarf Fortress
Witch is a good thing if you are a company looking for loayal employees.

That's what I call nice debugging.

Damn I just wanted to post that...
