This natural selection is good for the heard as
a whole, because the general speed and health
of the whole group keeps improving by the regular
    attrition of the weakest members.

In much the same way, the human brain can
only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells.
Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills
brain cells, but naturally, it attacks the slowest and

"How so? It's free speech, not "free speech, as long as you follow our guidelines". Nowhere have I ever heard any definition of free speech that says someone has to be "relevant or @ least meaningfull""

Why not? if your comunication is disrupting the flow of communication by others is it free speech or Vandalisim. Why do you assume that your right to be heard saying googah is any more important that anyone elses right to comunicate. Esp if your saying gogah impeades the right of someone else to communicate.

"That's fine. But then don't go on pretending that you are all for free speech, when you can't meet that ideal yourself."

I can't and don't claim to be pro-free speech. Free speach usually ends up defending something like kiddie porn or the Turner Diarys, quite frankly I can't see the social benifit of either, I am however in favor of responsable speech.

And no that does not mean that you can say and do whatever you want.

  22. Re:Rights? What rights? on F*cked Company Cease-And-Desisted · · Score: 1

@ some point even freedom of speech needs limits.

Freedom of speech REQUIRES that the individual be motivated to say something relevent or @ least meaningfull.

At some point there has to be a line drawn that says what is freedom of speech and what is static. This is what court battles are about, where the line is, for this socity today. (realising that the line will be different tommorow)

You crossed the line for the slashdot socity. Slashdot is not a social club. It is a news service, that allows people to post opinions. your opinions were found to be unwarented by five people (a sampling of the comunity). You were not Censored. You were told to grow up.

    In short:

Freedom of speech DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO BE AN ASSHOLE. It gives you the right to express yourself as long as other people are willing to listen.
